History
Kyne was an orphan for as long as she could remember. She never did remember her real family, she just remembered moving from house to house, seeking shelter for the night and begging for food. Their was always something special about her, however. She could always get what she wanted, but never took more than what she needed. The girl had an affinity for the arts. She would sing, dance, write poems and speak them aloud in the town square. Most were captivated by her, taken aback by her talent, those generous enough would even drop a coin or two for her. For years that is how she got by.
As she aged, she became extremely beautiful. Both men and women found her irresistible and once more, she found a way to make money. Kyne hadn't an issue sleeping around, in fact, she loved the attention. She was doing even better than she had been before, but within months of her nightly charades, she met a man named Lucius. He was odd compared to the rest of the boys in town, he hadn't seemed charmed by her, which made her rather curious. He hadn't talked to her for entertainment of any sorts, rather he asked her why she was wasting her magic.
This was the first time she'd heard of such. Kyne never believed she had magic, she simply thought she was a lucky girl. In an attempt to learn more, she offered a deal. Of course, it was unorthodox, but sex for information wasn't a bad thing for her. If she had in fact magical capabilities, she wanted to be able to use it to it's full extent. Again, Lucius wasn't much interested in sex, but being a male his age, he wasn't going to simply throw the opportunity away.
As time went on and the two began to meet up more and more, their get togethers were more friendly than intimate. For months he taught her how to use her abilities, which for whatever reason they never worked on him, but she was grateful nonetheless. It soon came time for her to meet, Elias, Lucius's father. When the boy could teach her no more, he was the next best person to turn to.
Immediately upon her arrival, the magus was impressed. He could instantly pick up on her magic and knew exactly what she was, a bard. From then on, she join the 'family' and became yet another apprentice and child to Elias. -
Personality
To but it bluntly, Kyne is the type of person to follow her whims. She is an individualist first and last. She values her own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. She avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions.She may often times be considered unpredictable, but her behavior is not totally random. She is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it.
Above respect for life and good, or disregard for life and promotion of evil, she places somewhere between randomness and disorder. Her view on things is that absolute freedom is necessary. Whether the individual exercising such freedom chooses to do good or evil is of no concern to her. Kyne believes that there is no order to anything, including her own actions. With this as a guiding principle, she tends to follow whatever whim strikes her at the moment. Good and evil are irrelevant when making a decision. That being said, she can be extremely difficult to deal with. She has been known to cheerfully and for no apparent purpose gamble away everything she had on the roll of a single die. However, that doesn't make her completely unreliable. Despite her relaxed and carefree attitude, she does hold an immense amount of respect for her family and friends.
Moving on, Kyne likes to indulge in everything. She is what most consider the insurgent, the con-man, gambler, and high roller; the uncommitted freebooter seeking nothing more than self-gratification. She will at least consider doing anything if she can find enjoyment or amusement from it. Life has meaning sure, but hers has the greatest. She is always looking for the best deal, and will work with anyone, good or bad, to get it; as long as she comes out of the situation on top.
