Elsa

Elsa Izayoi Mizuki was born into the exquisite life of luxury in 1680. She is the youngest and only daughter of Haruka Momoka and Josephina Lebonair. Her father was a Doctor with his own Medical Facility in Tokyo and her mother was a French Aristocrat. She is the youngest of three - having two older brothers; Alis and Ren.

As a child, Elsa was raised alongside her two older brothers by their mother at the family estate in France. Josephina was a full-time mother who'd often stay at home to lavish her children in expensive spoils. She was a kind woman and always supported her children, however, she was oblivious to the sinister acts her husband committed while he was away from home in Japan. One day though, he had brought his 'work' home with him to spend more time with his family - a mysterious man bound in shackles with long locks of ivory and scars littering the entire canvas of his back. Haruka had housed him within the catacombs of the estate dressed in nothing but a simple loin-cloth.

Haruka and Josephina did not have a happy marriage. They had been arranged by Josephina's father and Haruka's mother to marry to produce half-French offspring, as Japanese and French rarely blended well. They would commonly fight in front of their children behind closed doors from a day of faking a happy facade. All of the dark surfaces of the couple's marriage faded away when Elsa had slipped off while playing an innocent game of Hide and Seek with her brothers.

Elsa had journeyed into the catacombs of the Lebonair estate, darkness shrouded it, spider webs were spun in various places and the smell of earth and sulfur was not particularly inviting to anyone especially for a child at the tender age of five. The lingering smell of rot and debris didn't phase the child at all but when she approached the cell.

The silver hues peered behind the bars at the mysterious man her father had brought home the night before.

"Bonjour!" Elsa greeted, her eyes dared not stray from the shackled stranger. "What's your name?" she asked. A child's curiosity is not replaceable and as she stood outside of the underground prison, she would soon find out exactly what it was.

The man lifted his head to the level of the child's eyes which held a deep questioning that only he'd provide the answers to. Who was this little girl? Where had she come from? He too harbored questions. They both did. The child was unaware that she was staring into the eyes of a broken man, a very broken man. He moved against the chains as the whispering stillness of the catacombs were shattered by erratic metallic rattling.

His lips parted to speak, "Akuma," he replied.

Elsa's lips painted into a smile, now she had a name to address him by! She emitted a giggle much too sweet, "Akuma?" she echoed. "My name's Elsa!" she introduced herself with a little curtsy. "What're you doing in there?"

He didn't answer right away and remained quiet as he feared the one who had ripped him into millions of pieces was watching from afar.

"A monster did this to me, little Miss Riding Hood," he finally answered with a pet name given to the child that stood before him.

Elsa frowned, "A monster!?" she exclaimed. No, child, this was not the one that hid under your bed but laid in Josephina's. She contorted the frown into an expression of bravery, "Hey, don't be scared. I'll go beat up that monster, okay? Then you can get out of here!"

"Don't waste your energy upon getting me out of here, kid. I'm a demon, a yokai that people fear. So, freeing me doesn't matter," Akuma said but when he looked, Elsa had run off before the sentence was finished.

Meanwhile, at the surface, a search party had been formed to seek out the wayward little girl. Josephina was frantically looking for her daughter, "Elsa!" she called. "Elsa!"

"Mommy!" Elsa answered the worried woman's cries from a distance while she ran towards her mother's arms. Josephina embraced her child and sighed in relief. "Elsa, what have I told you about wandering off like that?" she scolded.

Elsa shook her head, "There's a strange man chained up in the catacombs, Mommy! He needs help."

Josephina lifted one of her eyebrows in confusion. A stranger in the catacombs? Certainly, this wasn't one of her daughter's imaginary friends if she came to her for help.

When the sun dipped into the horizon, the moon rose from her slumber and blanketed the midnight sky with twinkling stars, Elsa returned to the catacombs, this time with her mother and a basket of goods in tow. She led Josephina by the hem of the woman's skirt over to the cell that housed the man.

Josephina's eyes widen at the sorry sight before her, "Oh my," she said with a soft frown anchoring the corners of her lips. Akuma's visage appeared bloodier than before and he remained malnourished. He dipped his head low in shame, as he hacked up a choke. The demon lifted his golden gaze in the presence of mother and child.

"See, Mommy. I told you that there's a strange man trapped in the cell!" Elsa chirped, the child released the fabric of the skirt and ran over to the cold iron bar, gripping them with tiny hands. "Akuma!" the sweet one greeted.

"Hey, Riding hood," he replied as he looked towards the pair. He bowed his head at the woman. "I see you've brought your mother," his ears pulled back against his ivory crown.

Josephina grew lost in thought of how a yokai ended up imprisoned within the catacombs under their home. She stepped closer with caution. A hairpin was taken from her blonde up-do in order of simply picking at the lock. "Listen," the French woman spoke, "I don't know how you've ended up in here but I can clean, bandage up your wounds and feed you. " She was a gentle, pure soul. A beautiful woman with locks of molten gold passed the mid-back and deep wine-colored eyes, short in height but it didn't matter.


As the night rolled on with a thunderstorm, Josephina worked long hours into dawn washing the wounds along the yokai's back to assure they didn't fall infected. She, having two steady hands, marked his scars with sutures. He was then cleaned up and given a bowl of rabbit stew to quiet the vicious snarls of his hunger.

"There," the young woman said as she finished the task. "You should be feeling much better now." The peace among the three shattered by the looming presence invading the confines of the catacombs. An eerie feeling washed over them.

"Stay away from that filthy animal!" a heavy, husky toned bellowed into the halls. The mother and daughter, even the yokai ceased all action to glower towards the man. it was Haruka.

"Haruka! Why do you have this poor man shackled like this?" Josephina gathered herself to both feet from kneeling and confronted her husband, but the man took a single glimpse at his wife and snarled.

He was displeased by the discovery and sneered at his wife and child, he lashed out an arm to grasp Josephina by her blonde hair, "He's chained up for a reason, you stupid bitch!" the fire in his eyes drifted towards the little daughter, who cowered in fear.

While he kept her mother in one hand, he snatched the child up with his free one, "You little cunt of a child! I've warned you to never come down here!" Haruka snapped, then within a blink of an eye, he had disappeared with both mother and daughter before the guards of the estate placed the yokai back into the prison.

That night is when the start of a tragedy took place. It all started with the screams of Josephina from behind closed doors, locked to prevent anyone from entering. Her cries and begging for Haruka to stop. He had raped his wife as a punishment upon finding his darkest secret in the bowels of their home. Once he was done, he had left the private chamber with two bloodied hands, a dagger in one of them.

She was dead. Murdered in cold blood.

Haruka approached the bedroom consisting of the two older boys; Alis and Ren. The two twins were asleep in their beds, the cries of their now-deceased mother had not affected them. He had taken both of his sons' lives that night in fear the two would discover the body of their mother a few doors down from their quarter.

All but two remained and if the family dog counted, that'd make three. He'd remedy that soon enough, though.

Elsa sat in the dining hall of the manor at the dinner table. She appeared confused at the absence of her mother and brothers, "Daddy, where's mommy, Alis, and Ren?" she asked Haruka as he served his daughter a helping of a thick stew. He was quiet for a few minutes until he decided to speak, "They'll be here soon, Elsa. Now eat your dinner," he instructed. He pulled out a chair at the opposite end of the long, rectangular table.

The little girl finished the stew but then met the monster's ever-lasting gaze staring back at her from the long-distance between father and daughter. "Now since you've finished all of your food, how did Klaus taste, my little princess?" his voice hissed with a bitter tone, yet the expression left on the child's face was speechless.

Klaus, the family dog, had been the victim of slaughter, the gruesome ingredient to the stew he had served. Elsa covered her mouth as quick as the news brushed against both ears. She vomited into the palms of her hands.

"That should teach you not to meddle with my affairs," he said cruelly, then waved his hand dismissively. The child, shocked from the experience, screamed in horror. Her bellowing tone seeped through the concrete floors beneath her feet into the cell of the yokai. His golden hues illuminated with anger as he heard the child in danger.

The estate was soon dragged into Hell after the yokai had somehow used what was left of his strength to bust free from the chains and save her - by setting everything in a blazing fire.


A silhouette aroused from the flames to the little girl on her knees choking on the smoke. It was Akuma, he had come to her rescue while his fire destroyed everything the little princess knew, held dear but the man who broke her dissolved into ash.

He had carried her off to safety quite a distance with the burning estate. The yokai brought her to the shrine he once lived in and looked after her over the years.

Now at the age of twenty, Elsa had made Akuma her Familiar and also, became his wife. She is the mother of two children - Yukiji and Akira and is now the Queen of The Scarlet Rope, the shrine of her newly found family.
