Positives:
✓ Intelligent. He's actually pretty fucking smart. He just doesn't put in the effort to make it known.

✓ Humorous. Emilio's sense of humor can be pretty twisted, but he's a pretty funny guy nevertheless.

Emilio grew up with big expectations held over his head. He was constantly working to prove his worth to his father, and was always trying to appease him. But that wasn't easy, and often times his accomplishments were overlooked and instead, his father focused on his fuck-ups. And there were a lot. He wasn't coddled as a child and affection was unfamiliar and, to him, seen as embarrassing and a sign of weakness. And he was already seen as the weak link in his family. He had to contend with his older brother, and often times lost and got his ass kicked for even trying. He was degraded and talked-down, which would later result in him becoming reckless and despondent later in life.
He grew up to be a stubborn and arrogant kid who was always getting into trouble. Fights at school, hanging around gangs; he never seemed to do anything right. He was angry most of the time and showed resentment towards both his father and brother; and he ended up beginning to care less and less about proving himself to them. Instead, he disattached himself from his family and began searching to fit in somewhere else. He stuck to the streets and the slums, where he picked up the way of life and was swallowed up and taken in. He made friends, he made enemies; he made connections and he got himself a job selling drugs.
Emilio acts tough and while he's certainly not "soft" and vulnerable, he's still an unstable, angry kid. Everything he does is driven by anger or his want to prove himself to others, to make a name for himself, meaning he neglected his own needs. Behind that facade, though, he's emotional. He desires attention and affection, even though he wouldn't admit it, and longs for praise, even though he oftentimes ends up neglecting himself furthermore to get it.
