Her family were first generation Romani in the united states, having emigrated out of their home along the Caznacu river, the lack of jobs and the dream to settle in the land of Milk and Honey had driven her Grandparents to New York. From there they moved westward, traveling the U.S as Vagabonds, plying their talents with the Ringling Brothers.

Her Grandfather had a talent with animals, especially horses and found a great position with the menagerie section, her grandmother was a gifted seamstress so she was hired on with the costume group. Between them they saved up together and over the years managed to get enough together to buy a house in Eureka, California. Once they had settled down her Grandmother had become a seamstress and her Grandfather had worked at the local farm veterinary services and did things like shooing horses and delivering calves et-cetera.

Her mother came in time, the ninth child but not the baby by any means, sort of stuck in the middle with several other siblings they all found odd jobs around the neighborhood and helped with the family finances. Between the many brothers and sisters the family managed to do well in America and began to thrive.

One by one each of the siblings branched out into their own states, cities where they wanted to live, lives they wanted to begin. The same had been with her mother who had aspirations of being a famous Hollywood movie star though that was.... Incredibly short lived. Her mother when she had come down was literally ended up in... Quite the predicament. Her grandmother had been friends with a woman named Elizabeth Short, a young woman who had dreams of becoming a grand Hollywood star, so when her own daughter said she wished to move to Hollywood she had given her Elizabeth's information...

No one could have known that some years prior the very same woman had been brutally murdered, her body left in an abandoned lot not far from the very hotel where her mother had taken up residency years after the murder had taken place.

Without anyone to assist her mother and only a limited amount of funds to her name her mother began to work various odds and ends jobs to supplement her rent and acting school. Sadly though while her dreams were big, her talent was small and her mother gave up on the dream to become an actress and instead got a job as a secretary with Warners Brothers Studio. There she remained until she met a man by the name of Vilmos Zsigmond.

One thing lead to another, as the saying goes, and nine months later she came into the world...

Little Fauna.

Of course the issue with this was that, even in this more modern style age a baby out of wedlock was still considered a shameful thing, even more-so when the mother was past the age where having a baby should have even occurred, not to mention that the baby was fathered by a married man. Still, her father was a good man and had done right by her mother, he kept her in a nice apartment near work and made sure that little Fauna didn't want for much...

Fast Forward twenty seven years...


Life hadn't been easy for her. She had the odds stacked against her without a doubt, being born an Albino came with it's own health risks, none of which were easily managed. As such she had to constantly wear sun screen as well as wear glasses, sunglasses, and carry around an umbrella to protect her fair skin. In the Sunshine State? Yeah... That was pretty much a never ending routine for her. Even in the winter the sun was strong enough to burn her so she always had to take precautions.

Of course that routine made her stick out but not as much as her other health concerns, she often fainted if she stood too quickly, she couldn't undergo excessive exercise without becoming extremely ill. She was sixteen when she was diagnosed with structural heart disease and Eisenmenger syndrome, excessive pressure on her heart could cause parts of her heart to die from lack of oxygen and then rupture, basically causing her heart to... For a lack of scientific wording...

Explode.

Her parents weren't wealthy by any means but they did their best and when she had turned eighteen she had undergone surgery to repair the issues with her heart but at this age? Her heart was already so weak that her life expectancy was extremely short... The choice was necessary and done without her consent. Rather than simply put a band-aid over a ticking time bomb her parents had chosen to have her receive a cybernetic replacement organ...

A Mechanical Heart.

To say her life had changed overnight would have been an understatement...

Even so? She was alive.

Alive but... Deeply in debt.

Living in Hollywood was a never ending battle to make ends meat and after her surgery she had elected to move out of her mothers apartment and strike out on her own, moving to the infamous Cecil Hotel. Unbeknownst to her mother or father? She had been Wicca from a young age, the ability to see the dead and communicate with them were as much a part of her as her unique coloring and after her 'death' on the operating table while her old heart was removed and the new one put in... Her connection with the spirit world was even stronger than before.

Strong enough that she couldn't keep her abilities hidden from her mother if she remained.

Moving into the Cecil she worked her days as a palm reader, a spirit writer, a ghost medium, tarot reader and general mysitcist. At night? The world offered a higher pay rate and with her unnatural beauty and rare coloring she had joined an escort business, being arm candy for the wealthy neuvo riche and Hollywood's elite movers and shakers alike. It allowed her a taste of that glamorous life that her mother had come searching for without the dreaded fall out. Because of this though she was able to make enough to stay at the Cecil as well as pay off her medical debt bit by bit, her magical abilities growing slowly but steadily and she knew it, her skills growing stronger each time she used them...
