Evil doesn’t even begin to describe Al. Agaliarept is a dark sadistic being. He gets pleasure from the suffering and pain of others. Most of the time, he is stoic in nature seeming cold, emotionless, and uncaring. He is mischievous, arrogant, and downright cruel. He likes to sit back and observe humans, finding amusement in their petty games. On occasion, he will get involved causing torment and destruction. He finds humans interesting and enjoys manipulating them to do his bidding.. He carries no remorse or empathy and will kill for his own gain. The only pleasure he feels is when sins are being committed and he has the opportunity to swallow a soul…or two.

History
The word Demon conjures up visions of red horned devils doing the bidding of Lucifer deep in the fiery pits of hell. The truth however, is far from it. Demons as a whole reside in an alternate state, side by side with the world most humans know, called the After world. Everything in this world is an exact copy of the real world, only darker, worn, and crumbling. The air reeks of Sulfur and ash and the horizon has a constant haze as if the world was on fire. The demons here were never human; instead they are their own entity. Their origins are unknown, but there are theories about a spell gone wrong and the world being ripped in two. Most demons are proficient in black magics, and most have magical powers of their own. Agaliarept is one of the more powerful of these demons. He gains his powers by stealing he life force, or soul, from other creatures. It is well known, if a creature is to learn a demon’s true name, they can summon that demon and demand a favor. But everything comes with a price. Once a demon is summoned, if released, they can roam the world freely doing as they wish, until someone decides to send them back, where they are rapped once again until summoned. It’s a constant circle, and can become tiresome very quickly.

Al, as he is known by most, was born in this hell of a place. Born from what or when, he couldn’t tell you. There is no concept of time in the After World. What feels like minutes could be days or months, and vice versa. When forced to live in his world, he has a makeshift place made of rock and wood. Inside the room is filled with spell books, ingredients, and potions; potions that can do many different things. Some good, but most bad, and each one comes with a price. Al enjoys to spend most of his time in the “real-world” walking among the humans and other creatures. He likes to make deals and take lives. When someone makes a deal with him, a pentagram is burned into their skin as a sign of their debt to him. When he returns for payment, it is best to repay him. You wouldn’t like the alternative.

She couldn’t believe she was actually doing this. Jessy’s heart pounded heavy in her chest as she reached for the knife lying next to her. She scanned the candle lit room, making sure everything was in place. If this worked, she would need to be protected. Her furniture had been moved out of the way giver her lots of space for the ritual. Nervous eyes followed the white salt line in a circle making sure it connected. One hole and things could go very wrong. In the center of the circle diagonal lines came together in the shape of a star. Jessy say back on her knees just a few feet away from the drawing on her floor. Again, she read over the words she was supposed to say. Her grip tightened on the small knife in her right hand.
She had always dabbled a little in the darker arts, but never this dark. Jessy was about to summon a demon, or so she hoped. She wasn’t even sure it was going to work. Taking a deep breath she readied herself and began to speak the words from the book. She brought the small knife in front of her holding it blade down. She then moved her left hand, wrapping it around the blade. With some hesitation she sliced her hand, cringing from the pain. Blood started to run down the blade dripping on the pages of the book in front of her. She closed her eyes and repeated the words over and over. “Agaliarept, I summon thee. I command thee to show yourself!” The candles flickered form a wind that wasn’t there. Everything seemed darker. The air got thicker and with a sudden flash all the candles went out, leaving Jessy in total darkness. She stopped speaking. Her heart was pounding in her chest. He breathing was sharp and quick. Did it work?
She tried to look around the room. But could see nothing from the darkness. She still had the knife gripped in her hand and was now holding as a way to protect herself. A low growl came from in front of her. She squinted trying to focus. Shaking she stood and took a step closer to the area she had drawn the large circle. She was holding the knife in front of her, shaking from fear. Suddenly all the candles flared lighting the room again. Jessy froze. There in the center of the circle was a man. A tall man with bright yellow eyes. Eyes in the shape of a goat’s eyes. Despite the eyes, he appeared mostly human. Although that didn’t quite describe him. Then he spoke, a deep rasp of a voice. “Why am I here?”
Jessy gathered herself. “I have summoned you great demon.”
The man lifted a curious brow. “You?” He took a step closer stopping at the edge of the circle that imprisoned him. He cocked his head to the side and stared at Jessy. He watched the unsure human shaking in front of him; brandishing a knife as if to use it. He blinked in a quick motion. Not quite natural. “Where did you learn my name?” He demanded. Jessy shook her head refusing to answer him. A sinister grin spread across his face. “What a foolish girl.” The demon reached up and touched the invisible prison causing it to crash down. He easily stepped over the line Jessy had drawn on the floor. Jessy took a step back in disbelief. The book said he would be trapped. The book said she would be safe. The book lied.
With a fast motion, the demon crossed the room grabbing Jessy and slamming her against the wall. One of his hands was wrapped tightly around the wrist that held the knife. The other was around Jessy’s throat. “I summoned you, I am your maste….” Jessy was cut off by the demon’s grip on her throat tightening.
“That’s not how this works.” The demon leaned in close and took in a long breath smelling the air around Jessy. “Everything comes with a price.” His eyes locked with Jessy’s. “You’re my price.”
Jessy cried out as her wrist began to burn. Agaliarept stood smiling at her, his grip on her wrist tight. Once the pain subsided he released her arm, but kept his grip on her throat. Jessy pulled her up to look and was horrified to see a pentagram had been burned into her skin. The demon laughed a low dark sound. “Shouldn’t play with fire…human.” With that, the demon leaned forward and kissed Jessy. It was a hard, rough kiss. Jessy tried to scream against it but he was too strong. It wasn’t long before she started to feel the painful pull of energy. Slowly and painfully he pulled the girl’s soul from her body.
Agaliarept pulled from the kiss swallowing the last of the girl’s life force. He licked his lips and smiled. “So tasty.” He dropped the lifeless girl before turning to look at his surroundings. Standing at a window he looked over the vast city of New York. “What a fun place to play.” With a last look at the dead girl, he left the apartment, and out to the streets to have a little more fun…
