SUB HEADLINE ![]() Deanna Astoria Vasilieva entered the world beneath the wintry skies of Keramzin, where snow fell in soft veils upon rooftops and candlelight glowed in frosted windows. She was the first and only child of Pasha Vasiliev, a humble stone mason whose Ravkan blood carried the steady loyalty of generations, and Doroteya Vasilieva, a woman of Kaelish descent whose warmth and wit were known to light every hearth she touched. They named her Astoria, of the stars, because her birth felt to them like a blessing written in the heavens. But blessings, when they shine too brightly, are often coveted. When she was two years old, King Caldris' examiners came to test the children of Keramzin for Grisha abilities. The test was simple: A simple touch of her hand, all meant to draw out signs of hidden power. Yet when Deanna's little fingers curled around the examinator's index finger, light bent unnaturally toward her palms. She laughed, not knowing what it meant, and the room was filled with a glow no lantern could produce. The examiners exchanged looks – fear and awe intertwined. This child was more than rare. She was dangerous. And more importantly, she was valuable. That very night, her parents' cottage filled with the clash of steel. Pasha fought bravely but was cut down, Doroteya fell with him, and Deanna's cries echoed through the smoke as her birthplace was set aflame. She was taken from the wreckage not by fate nor by mercy, but by the King’s command. His soldiers claimed a Shu ambush, a story crafted in haste, and carried the child to Os Alta. She was too young to remember the truth. Too young to know her life had been stolen. The Grand Palace became her cradle. Raised by nursemaids in silk-draped nurseries, she grew in the shadow of royalty, cherished as though she were the King's own ward. King Caldris, with his practiced smile and voice like a kindly father, told her often that he had carried her from the ashes himself, sparing her life when all else was lost. Queen Eviana, softer in her ways, pressed kisses to her brow during fevers, brushed her hair with patient hands, and whispered lullabies in Kaelish to soothe her. And the Crown Prince Zoran, only a little older, became her first true friend: Her partner in mischief and comfort in loneliness. She was not royalty, not in name, yet the palace raised her as such. At the Grand Palace she learned to walk in silk and bow with grace, to speak with refinement, to read the histories of kings and Saints. At the Little Palace, she trained with the Grisha, coaxing sunlight from her fingertips until it blossomed in radiant arcs that dazzled her teachers. Her power was unlike any they had seen in decades – a power spoken of only in ancient tales, rival to the most exalted Summoners. Some murmured she might be chosen of the Saints. Others whispered she was being groomed into a weapon of the throne.
"She's been orbiting a dark star for far too long, caught in his deadly gravity.
But now she's finally free, setting out on a new trajectory. Heading for a place where her shine won't be stolen." – John Mark Green But Deanna, gentle-hearted, sought neither sainthood nor glory. She sought only belonging. In the Little Palace she found companionship with the Starkov siblings. Yelena, a healer, was all kindness and laughter, a sister of choice. Gavriil, her elder by a few years, was a summoner of shadow, sworn as Zoran's personal guard and protector. Where she was light, he was darkness; where she was gentle, he was guarded. Their bond began with shared glances, sharpened into quiet conversations, and deepened into something perilous. In gardens after dusk, in forgotten chambers, in fleeting touches, they grew inseparable. What began as comfort blossomed into secret love. But it was a love that could not be revealed. The King had always had plans for her. She was to be a pawn in his games of power, her hand promised to some noble whose loyalty and land would serve the throne. Beauty, grace, and power; she was a prize to be bestowed, not a girl free to choose her fate. Deanna knew it, yet the warmth of Gavriil's touch made her forget. He did not see her as a Saint, not a savior, not a pawn, but simply as Deanna. With him, she was not light incarnate, but a girl who longed to love and be loved. Yet shadows crept at the edges of her carefully crafted world. Zoran, restless and furious under his father's iron rule, shared with her his secret rages. He resented his father's cruelty, the way the King bent people into tools, the way freedom was denied him. Through him, Deanna began to see cracks in the gilded walls she had grown up within. Why had certain Grisha she trained with suddenly vanished? Why did her own memories of Keramzin feel so faint, so fractured? And when she stumbled across scraps of truth, whispers that her parents had not fallen to Shu raiders but to the King's own men, her world shifted. Her gratitude curdled into suspicion. The family she had believed in all her life might not have saved her at all, they might have stolen her. But before she could confront it, everything shattered. Zoran fled, unable to endure his father's leash any longer, vanishing into the wider world in search of freedom. Gavriil, bound by oath and love for the prince, followed him, torn from Deanna's side. She was left behind, alone in the palace that had once been her sanctuary, now turned prison. And then came the final truth, the one she could not hide even from herself: She was with child. Gavriil's child. A secret so dangerous it could end not only her own life but that of the unborn. To the King, her child would be leverage, a bargaining chip, or worse: A threat. She knew then that she could not remain, could not let her life be dictated by a crown of lies. One night, cloaked in shadows though her blood carried light, Deanna fled. She left behind silks and jewels, the illusion of safety, and the only family she had ever known. She ran into a world that was harsher, colder, but freer – a world where she might seek truth, might find Gavriil, might choose her own fate at last. Now she wanders, hunted yet unbroken. She remains pure of heart, still curious, still capable of trust and hope even when the world proves cruel. Her sweetness and naiveté make her vulnerable, yet within her burns a light that cannot be extinguished: The light of a girl who refuses to be anyone's weapon, the light of a mother who will fight for her child, the light of a woman who dares to claim her own story. |

Introverted· Intuitive· Feeling· Prospecting ![]() Although they may seem quiet or unassuming, Mediators have vibrant, passionate inner lives. Creative and imaginative, they happily lose themselves in daydreams, inventing all sorts of stories and conversations in their minds. These personalities are known for their sensitivity – Mediators can have profound emotional responses to music, art, nature, and the people around them. Idealistic and empathetic, Mediators long for deep, soulful relationships, and they feel called to help others. But because this personality type makes up such a small portion of the population, Mediators may sometimes feel lonely or invisible, adrift in a world that does not seem to appreciate the traits that make them unique. Mediators share a sincere curiosity about the depths of human nature. Introspective to the core, they are exquisitely attuned to their own thoughts and feelings, but they yearn to understand the people around them as well. Mediators are compassionate and nonjudgmental, always willing to hear another person's story. When someone opens up to them or turns to them for comfort, they feel honoured to listen and be of help. Empathy is among this personality type's greatest gifts, but at times it can be a liability. The troubles of the world weigh heavily on Mediators' shoulders, and these personalities can be vulnerable to internalising other people's negative moods or mindsets. Unless they learn to set boundaries, Mediators may feel overwhelmed by just how many wrongs there are that need to be set right. Few things make Mediators more uneasy than pretending to be someone they aren't. With their sensitivity and their commitment to authenticity, people with this personality type tend to crave opportunities for creative self-expression. It comes as no surprise, then, that many known Mediators are poets, writers, actors, and artists. They cannot help but muse about the meaning and purpose of life, dreaming up all sorts of stories, ideas, and possibilities along the way. Through these imaginative landscapes, Mediators can explore their own inner nature as well as their place in the world. While this is a beautiful trait, these personalities sometimes show a tendency to daydream and fantasise rather than take action. To avoid feeling frustrated, unfulfilled, or incapable, Mediators need to make sure that they take steps to turn their dreams and ideas into reality. People with this personality type tend to feel directionless or stuck until they connect with a sense of purpose for their lives. For many Mediators, this purpose has something to do with uplifting others and their ability to feel other people's suffering as if it were their own. While Mediators want to help everyone, they need to focus their energy and efforts – otherwise, they can end up exhausted. Fortunately, like flowers in the spring, Mediators' creativity and idealism can bloom even after the darkest of seasons. Although they know the world will never be perfect, Mediators still care about making it better however they can. This quiet belief in doing the right thing may explain why these personalities so often inspire compassion, kindness, and beauty wherever they go. |

⎨S T R E N G T H S⎬ Empathetic ✵ Mediators do not just care about other people in an abstract sense. These personalities can actually feel another person's emotions, from joy and elation to sorrow and regret. Because of this sensitivity, Mediators tend to be thoughtful and kindhearted, and they hate the idea of hurting anyone, even unintentionally. Generous ✵ Mediators rarely enjoy succeeding at other people's expense. They feel called to share the good things in their lives, give credit where it is due, and uplift the people around them. These personalities want to contribute to a world where every voice is heard and no one's needs go unmet. Open-minded ✵ Tolerant and accepting, Mediators try not to judge anyone else's beliefs, lifestyles, or decisions. This is a personality type that prefers compassion to fault-finding, and many Mediators feel empathy even for those who have done wrong. Because they are so accepting, Mediators often become confidants for their friends and loved ones – and occasionally for total strangers. Creative ✵ Mediators love to see things from unconventional perspectives. Few things give them more pleasure than allowing their minds to wander through all sorts of ideas and possibilities and daydreams. It is no wonder, then, that many Mediators are drawn to creative pursuits – or that this personality type is well represented among writers and artists. Passionate ✵ When an idea or movement captures their imagination, Mediators want to give their whole heart to it. People with this personality type may not always be outspoken, but that does not diminish their strong feelings for a cause that speaks to their beliefs and convictions. Idealistic ✵ Mediators strive to follow their conscience, even when doing the right thing is not easy or convenient. They rarely lose sight of their desire to live a meaningful, purpose-filled life – one that helps others and leaves the world a better place. |
⎨W E A K N E S S E S⎬ Unrealistic ✵ Nothing in this world is perfect – and that can be a difficult truth for Mediators to accept. People with this personality type can be hopeless romantics, with rose-colored visions of what their lives should be like. This can set Mediators up for disappointment when reality inevitably falls short of their dreams. Self-isolating ✵ Mediators long to connect with others, but they do not always know how. Especially in new environments, Mediators may be reluctant to put themselves out there in ways that would help them make new friends or become involved in a new community. As a result, people with this personality type may sometimes feel lonely or isolated. Unfocused ✵ Mediators' imaginative, introspective nature does not always lend itself to productivity. Many Mediators get frustrated by how difficult they find it to buckle down and get things done. The problem is not that they are incapable – rather, it is that they run into problems when they become so caught up in different ideas and ideals that they fail to commit to a course of action. Emotionally vulnerable ✵ The emotional attunement of these personalities is among their greatest strengths. But unless Mediators establish boundaries, they can be at risk of absorbing other people's negative moods or attitudes. Desperate to please ✵ Conflict tends to be stressful for Mediators, who yearn for harmony and acceptance. When someone dislikes or disapproves of them, these personalities may become fixated on trying to clear the air and change that person's mind. Unfortunately, Mediators' desire to please others can drain their energy, eclipsing their inner wisdom and their awareness of their own needs. Self-critical ✵ Mediators believe in their unique potential, and they desperately want to live up to it. But this can cause them to have unrealistic expectations for themselves. When Mediators fail to live up to these visions, they may accuse themselves of being useless or selfish or woefully inadequate. Taken too far, this self-criticism can discourage Mediators, leading them to give up on even their dearest dreams. |
Pisces is the twelfth astrological sign in the Zodiac. It lies between Aquarius to the west and Aries to the east. The ecliptic and celestial equator intersect within this constellation and in Virgo. The Pisces constellation is of Babylonian origin. The Babylonians saw it as a pair of fishes joined by a cord. The constellation is usually associated with the Roman myth of Venus and Cupid, who tied themselves with a rope and transformed into fish to escape the monster Typhon. The star Alpha Piscium, or Alrescha ('the cord' in Arabic) marks the knot of the rope. |

Ruled by Neptune, this woman was born with subtle emotions, and secret mystic depth. She is friendly and kind-hearted but like a dream she is so full of imagination, her mind swims at a depth, most would drown in. She comes from a planet of inspiration, receptivity and illusion. She has an open mind. She is beautiful, but not like most, she is beautiful for her mind, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talks about something she loves. 'She wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as looks, she was beautiful, deep down to her soul.' She has the beauty of an everlasting sunrise. Full of light. She does not demand attention. She is subtle, soft but strong. She is a water sign, empathetic and compassionate. She is sensitive. Her mysterious soul draws people to her and that is part of her magic. It is what makes her so powerful. 'She was beautifully out of place. Something I believe she intended to be. Like the sun during the night.' It took an entire galaxy being woven into one to make her but that does not rule her. |

|ETHEREALKI|
Etherealki, or the Order of Summoners, are Grisha whose power lies in the manipulation of different natural elements. This Order is divided into Squallers, who can manipulate air pressure, Inferni controlling fire and Tidemakers ruling over the element of water. The order is loosely referred to as Summoners, and Etherealki typically train in pairs; Inferni usually stick to their own kind and usually work with other Inferni, while Squallers and Tidemakers train together as their elements go hand in hand and coorporate well.Sun Summoners and Shadow Summoners alike are also considered summoners, controlling light and darkness respectively. They too work well together, with their antagonist powers complimenting each other and keeping the opposite force in check. In the King's Second Army they wear black keftas.
|SUN SUMMONING|
The ability to summon, shape and manipulate visible light, commonly referred to as sun summoning, was believed to be a myth amongst Ravkans until its sudden appearance 20 years ago. Before Deanna's Grisha abilities manifested, her powers were believed to belong to deities and saints alone, the light appearing as a powerful symbol of hope and divine retribution in folklore from all over the world. Like her summoner kin, Deanna is able to call upon her element of light and bend it at her will, gently guiding the photons to light her path, blind her enemies or even solidify into a deadly weapon.✵ Light detection enables Deanna to sense if or when there is a source of light nearby. Furthermore she is able to tell natural light apart from artificial light and use either of the two to draw upon as an energy resource. ✵ Sunbursts. This ability allows Deanna to absorb light particles and redirect them as a radiant beam of light, which can be released from her palms in any direction she pleases. The flash of light is powerful enough to render her opponents blind, either temporarily or permanently, thus making it an effective and dangerous defence mechanism. ✵ Optical illusions. Being able to guide and direct photons, Deanna is able play tricks on the eye utilising the visible light. The illusions can vary from minor adjustments of colour or distance perception by the means of manipulating the way certain particles interact with the retinal layers of the eye, all the way into rendering objects or even people invisible by bending the light around them. ✵ The Cut is the deadliest weapon in Deanna's arsenal, and one she has yet to put to use. With this ability, she is able to solidify the light into a physical weapon, which can slice through any material.
|LIMITATIONS|
Frequent honing of one's power is considered beneficial for the Grisha and leaves them glowing with health under normal circumstances. To be continued... |
