    “you’re not a monster,” i said.

    but i lied.

    what i really wanted to say was that a monster
    is not such a terrible thing to be.
    from the latin root monstrum, a divine messenger of catastrophe,
    then adapted by the old french to mean an animal of myriad origins:
    centaur, griffin, satyr.

    to be a monster is to be a hybrid signal,
    a lighthouse: both shelter and warning at once.

    something under zavaria's skin oozes, reeking of blood and torment.
    viscera can only be held inside for so long, writhing to be freed.
    to trust such a violent being is a questionable decision, even more so to challenge it.

  • absolute burning

    not a single thing is safe from the fires of the red knight's rage. the level at which the fire burns results in complete annihilation, sparing nothing in its path. the heavy destruction left behind is incomprehensible, leaving a deep impact that'll last for generations to come.
    BOON ◆︎ access to all fire-based evocations without exhaustion, as well as an immunity to the most extreme of heats.

    forge magic

    the divine tools made within the obsidian sanctum are of extraordinary quality, accompanied by powerful enchantments with varying effects. the red knight is in favour of swords and blades, the sharpness of which created the red rivers surrounding the forge. the obsidian sanctum reaches temperatures beyond normal capabilities, allowing aspects of the red knight to work with powerful and magical metals.
    BOON ◆︎ access to the obsidian sanctum and the ability to enchant items created within it.

    hemokinesis

    a sign of the red knight's arrival is rivers of blood spilling across the land, having no known source other than the red knight itself. it can shape and manipulate blood, using its ability to do so to twist people into its will and create living weapons. puppets for its ever-growing army.
    BOON ◆︎ hyper-regenerative blood, making holders of this boon incapable of dying of blood loss.

    supernatural survivability

    the red knight has been defeated many times in the past, but it only comes back stronger with each new aspect. with the latest aspect having complete immunity to its only known weakness, surrendering would be the better option.
    BOON ◆︎ only decapitation can stop a holder of this boon. good luck.

  • enhanced swordsmanship

    the red knight's most valued weapon is that of a divine sword, an evershifting blade that takes to its holder. rumours among aspects of the red knight claim that the divine sword has a voice of its own, carrying the memories and skills developed by previous holders to gift to the one that claims it.
    BOON ◆︎ advanced knowledge of swordsmanship skills, with a blade bound to the holder.

    magic reflection

    the red knight had constructed itself to be a perfect harbinger of destruction, with its one weakness being the effects magic had on its already weakened aspects. a sword could only do so much in defense before its aspects would fall in combat to something stronger, so it rebuilt itself stronger. with an immunity to magic, now passed down to the latest aspect.
    BOON ◆︎ immunity against enchantments and charms.

    one-man army

    with exceptional adaptability and stamina, the red knight is capable of facing overwhelming odds in combat and coming out victorious. to face with the red knight and its aspects was almost certain death, with only mages being able to stop them in the past. but that was the past, and its returned with an immunity to magic.
    BOON ◆︎ supernatural awareness of combat.

    war magic

    history tells a tale of an aspect of the red knight bringing an army to their knees with a single incantation. while immune to magic itself, its capable of its own unique forms of magic. while swords were in its favour, it was capable of taking up any nearby weapon and using it for combat.
    BOON ◆︎ ability to manipulate weapons.

  • animation

    when there was never enough blood to contribute to the red knight's ever-growing army, there was always the choice of bringing life to the lifeless. endless servitude and undying loyalty, creatures with no feeling to be felt, golems were the perfect companions. they could be built from any material the red knight found useful.
    BOON ◆︎ ability to create a golem companion, following the commands of its creator with perfect loyalty.

    indomitable rage

    the red knight only knows rage. it connects all its aspects. the very sight of life itself was enough to trigger immense rage within the red knight and its aspects, sending them on immediate rampages with no control. that rush of rage was enough to push through any pain, any injuries and any feelings in the way.
    BOON ◆︎ with more rage will come great strength.

    phagogenesis

    always hungry, always searching, always devouring. satisfaction was unknown to the red knight. it feasted on the destruction and chaos it was responsible for, eating what remained in the aftermath. as a result, it produced unholy broods of unseen origins. these creatures were known as the crimson.
    BOON ◆︎ devouring the blood and flesh of the fallen gives holders strength.

    soullessness

    the soul is a burden, carrying only weakness with it. as the red knight reaps its rewards from the fallen, the mind and body are left forever altered. the soul will be put into good use, contributing to his ever-growing army and desire for knowledge. aspects all have a soul of their own, but are known to surrender it as they fulfil their duty.
    BOON ◆︎ no longer burdened by emotion, by feelings, or by death.

  • the crimson

    the unfortunate byproduct of taking such a small form as an aspect. not having enough flesh to contain such a being, the release of excess ichor through means of vomiting or bloodletting results in new creatures taking form. they hold a varying degree of violence with them, but ultimately follow the red knight upon creation. few reach a level of sentience, most dying in combat. the production never ends regardless.
