Gerallt Mattox

He was raised in a polyamorous family. He had two mothers and one father. His birth mother, Alys Wostre, hailed from Scandanavia, his father, Connor Mattox, from Wales, and his second mother from America, where his biological mother and father had moved a month after he was conceived. He was born in Rutland, Vermont, two months after his parents had met Jada, his second mother. Connor, Alys, and Jada all fell in love and by the time Gerallt was born, had agreed on traditional and honorary names for him, honoring their ancestry. Jada was a Theologian who excelled in studies in religion and often studied the supernatural world. Alys was a history teacher, training for archaeology to sate her interest in the Celts, their history, and origin. And Connor was born to a wealthy family, who operated a parts-manufacturing plant for basically every new machine that came out.

When Gerallt was born, his three parents came together to name him, deciding on the name Gerallt Declan Mattox. The name 'Gerallt' means Ruler of the Spear, and is of Germanic ancestry. The name 'Declan' is of Celtic origin and means Man of Prayer. And the family name Mattox is Welsh and means A Blessing from God.
This very extravagant name led Gerallt to become interested in history, just like his mothers. He fell in love with the study of medieval weaponry, quickly working it into his profession, selling his works and keeping his others.
Once he moved out of the house, his apartment had hallways lined with hand-made daggers and swords, crafted and created from scratch by himself.

His parents eventually all moved to Ireland to live on a beautiful, lush hillside, pursuing their fantasies and enjoying their lives as a happy polyamorous family.

Gerallt came to find himself studying the gods of old, admiring the deities and wishing he could visit those times. He took the time to learn about every religion he could discover, going so far as to pay for classes on the weekends, buy hundreds upon hundreds of books, devoting his time to learning everything he could about the supernatural world, convinced it did, in fact, exist. How could it not?
Late into his twenties, his fascination with the world of the dead began, wondering if each culture and religion had a separate version of Heaven and Hell, or if there was only one true religion. He didn't let it bother him too much, but he would spend several hours a week reading book and watching videos that attempted to prove the existence of one true religion or several true religions, only to realize that many of the happenings that people believed they saw and witnessed were just the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. However, Gerallt does believe in Synchronicity, the act or phenomenon of thinking something into existence.

It had already been a long day. Gerallt was in the middle of teaching a small class when the forge began making odd sounds. He'd ordered everyone to evacuate the room while he went to turn off the forge and get the metal out. However, before he could make it to the power, the forge exploded. It isn't an uncommon experience to have forges blowing up or 'erupting' and spewing shrapnel and molten metal everywhere, but it was very unfortunate that it happened here. It was an old forge, but it hadn't shown any signs of failure before. Gerallt was caught by the blow and several hundred pieces of shrapnel were shot into his arms and legs, as well as his back and butt. Thankfully, none pierced his neck, only digging slightly into the back of it and a little bit behind his ear. The molten metal managed to land on his clothes and burn through some of them, but he quickly began shaking it off as much as he could, despite the pain in his body. More metal landed on his arms and back, but finally the assault stopped, and the students came rushing in and called an ambulance.
Gerallt was picked up by EMT's and transported to the hospital, where he went under for some small skin grafts and for the removal of all the shrapnel. After being treated for any infections, possible tetanus, and severe burns, he was set to bedrest in his own room in the ICU, kept under sharp watch.
