Sali of the Malqir

I recently got approved for an expedition in the Northern Empty. Hopefully the weather will be kind enough to allow us passage to the isle we will be headed for. And by 'we', I mean that I've been assigned a bodyguard. A Thavnairian, apparently. I honestly don't know very many Thavnairians, so I think it'll be an enlightening experience. Fitting they'd assign a foreigner to a foreigner. (Could it be they don't trust me to hold my own?)

Ilakha's going to the Cieldalaes. I don't want to say such in front of her but I don't know if that's such a good idea. They can be dangerous to traverse to and there's a heavy fog covering it, last I'd heard since the Calamity. They deliberately use this place to house maximum security prisons. Sure, the land is pretty hospitable, but who knows what else is lurking out there? Ilakha doesn't need to worry about escaping criminals while she's working on her studies. Maybe Limsa Lominsa wasn't the safest with the pirates, but that's since been outlawed. The Cieldalaes house much worse than just pirates.

However, it is said that the mist over the islands will lift under certain conditions. What will these conditions be, I wonder?

I'm not worried about the humidity anymore. Granted, it makes the greenhouse impossible to be inside. . .

But I've started using a dedicated spot to harvest sweet pea seeds. I want to make a specific part of the garden for Mother. Sweet peas represent departures in the Ishgardian language of flowers. They also prefer full sun and need a lot of room to grow, which I can spare. It's not a price too great for letting others know I'm thinking of her.

Ilakha's nameday is also pretty soon. I got her a new sundress for the season. It's yellow, so it matches her eyes pretty well. Something cheerful to. . . I don't want to say ignore the sadness, but to encourage optimism.

I guess that's what she's good at anyway. She's better at it than I am.
