    • Personality: Tends to keep to himself anytime he’s given the chance. Has more patience than what’s good for him, given that he’s willing to sit through any boring story or pointless rambling until he’s late for something important. A people pleaser to a fault, asking more than enough questions about things they like and about their interests. Would rather listen to someone else talk than discuss himself. If he’s been around someone long enough, he’ll be more open to talking in general. Indecisive.
    • Likes: Being outside, no matter the season. Documentaries. Small spaces, preferably by himself. Using his power of illusion for entertainment.
    • Dislikes: Talking about himself. The cold. He has a minor fear of electricity. Being touched. [Very minor haphephobia.]

  • Backstory

    [WARNING: This backstory contains mentioned child neglect, mass hysteria, and suicide.]

    With parents who didn't want him to be who he really was, who expected him to fit their own perceptions of perfection, Buddy felt it was his obligation to be different around both of them in order to lessen the neglect he faced. There was no satisfying both of them at once, as the two had different ideas of perfection.

    It got worse after Buddy’s psychic abilities began to show. Both parents were unsure how to take it. Even when they noticed he preferred to use one over the others. Illusion.

    After his parents split up, Buddy felt more pressured to make them happy by appealing to both and decided to just outright change his appearance and the way he looked, depending on which one he was with. There were slip-ups, of course. After a few hours, the illusions would flicker and fade, causing him to hide or act invisible in case it upset one of them.

    At school, he would get to practice more, changing one thing every day and seeing how long he could keep it up. He practiced any chance he got, and eventually he could keep the appearance of a completely different person until he went to bed. He felt as if this was enough for his parents to accept again.

    However, like all psychic abilities, having to work harder mentally in one area for such a long time is very unsafe. For anyone.

    As high school neared its end, Buddy struggled. With classwork, social skills, his psychic abilities, everything. After an outburst with his father (who took notice that the illusions would stall and waver), he was sent away to Thorney Towers, Home for the Disturbed. As time went on and the number of townspeople shrank and inmates grew, Buddy's powers lost control and faltered. He forgot who he really was. The only ones who had access to his personal files and knew who he was had suffered the same fate as everyone else. They either left forever, or committed suicide.

    Buddy was one of the unfortunate few who were left behind. He stayed in the remains of Thorney Towers, living off whatever he could until a strange man noticed how convincing the illusions were.

    He was appointed second guard position outside the entrance alongside ex-inmate Boyd Cooper.
