  • Description

    A tall and slender man of seemingly japanese descent, imposing and well built for the battlefield, with sleek long hair the color of burnished silver and strange, sad but dangerously sharp cyan eyes.
    His face is given to youthfulness despite a well defined jaw, with his hair usually kept up in what might be loosely considered a dissolved chonmage turned into a long ponytail instead.
    He is often described by his peers as 'wolf faced' or 'wolf eyes', a term likely to cause him annoyance as it was coined as a reference to his eyes almost resembling a young wolf's in contrast with his family's own black. It is likely neither this color or the extremely early gray of his hair are actually natural to him.

    His skin is covered in small scars and deep bruises, the latter of which seem present in a semi-permanent manner and seem to worsen over time. However, his most alarming physical trait is the layer of gnarled, iron-like metal covering his back and parts of his limbs like countershading. It is iron-like in every respect, except that it doesn't seem to rust, and seems flexible moulding against the ronin's back. Except, when handled or struck by an outside force -even his own fist- it goes back to being solid and unyielding, like it was part of an animate statue embedded on his back.

    He is often dressed in a simple black haori and hakama and a white sarashi, with the surviving bits and bobs of his samurai armor (a shoulderpad and bracer) as identification and protection. He's also often seen wearing the stuffed tail of some kind of foxlike beast to secure his odachi and for warmth, but he's also just as likely to hide it away if he suspects it could get stolen. Depending on location, he might be also seen wearing simple kimonos or yukata.

  • Backstory

    inkytiny.jpg20 years ago, the ronin was a child and full of anger. Born in a village in a storming land to serve the Daimyo, his peaceful nature was warped into a war tool. He hated it.

    10 years ago, the ronin was a young man and full of anger. It gave him promise. He was given a sword and taken to war. Loyalty flowed through his veins, and his lord treated him with kindness.

    5 years ago, the ronin was a samurai and full of anger. He won many battles for his Daimyo. When his lord took in a foreign alchemist, he took it as evidence he was making the right choice, and ignored the greed in his lord's eyes.

    One year ago, the ronin was a betrayer and full of anger. His alchemist friend ran to him in fear and shared the true scope of their lord's ambition. Irate, the samurai attempted to confront the Daimyo, but it was too late. The air grew heavy with screams and the roars of obedient beasts where loyal men once stood. Men such as him.

    The nameless ronin/ochimusha (may be called 'nameless' or 'raiju' for ease) is a relatively young but taciturn warrior. He comes from a feudal land isolated from the rest of its world by a giant black storm, and was a full fledged samurai fighting for his daimyo's right to the bits of habitable land left. After a betrayal that had him stripped of his name, honor and rank, as well as nursing a dark curse, he disappeared in the storm.
