A cruel reminder of his past.

Ramone was born in a small farming village in Spain, 1520. While the Spanish Empire began its rise to become one of the most powerful empires of that time, Ramone was raised to be a hard worker and often spent ten hours or more in the fields caring for his family's crops to make sure they had enough to support the family his parents kept expanding on. His youth was uneventful and busy with six siblings, and as a teenager he found the woman he wanted to be with the rest of his life. It was a love story from a fairytale, the two were madly in love. The woman was well known to assist the church and Ramone would even bring produce to help feed the people without homes, and the soldiers who risked their lives to keep the empire safe.

He was twenty three when his life ended. Him and his wife, Annabella, had a two year old daughter and a newborn son. The small family resided at the edge of the tree line about a five minute trek from the church, secluded from the farms surrounding their small paradise. For some reason they had become the targets of the supernatural, likely due to Annabella's association to the church. Ramon wasn't home when the attack happened, he had been visiting his parents farm and assisting them with their cattle only to return to a home ablaze in flames. Like anyone else would he panicked and ran inside to save his family.. only to find they had been slaughtered, with blood splattered across the walls and pooled on the floors. Not even their infant son was spared. He was struck with so much grief he hardly noticed a figure creeping up behind him.. He was attacked, and left to bleed out.

Only he didn't. Whatever had attacked the family had bitten his wrist and gone through the effort to make this man suffer for eternity. After the flames died down he remained laying in the ash and rubble of what was once his home despite his wounds suddenly having healed, until the home was discovered by a passing caravan. Discovering Ramone alive and seemingly unscathed they brought him in front of the whole village at it's center, labeling him a monster and using his newfound fangs and inhuman gaze as evidence enough. It didn't help this was at the height of the fear of vampirism. The church pried his fangs from his skull and left him to starve, and he was labeled an outcast. No one spoke to him, they dared not even give him a glance, even his family cut ties with him.

He understood quickly that he had no access to his sudden cravings without fangs, but there was one way to escape the fate he was suddenly thrusted into. He left the place he had called home his entire life and became a crewmate on a pirate ship. He spent years scrubbing decks and raising sails, remaining hidden in plain sight until a captain he worked for took notice of his talents. He was chosen to be the ships Captain after the previous has passed away, and he gladly took hold of the riches and ship that was left to him. He spent years building onto that wealth, despite the fame gained from his position that had been given to him, he had made a name for himself by himself when it came to pirating. He was able to replace his fangs and has a loyal crew. There are many rumors of his ship and of him himself as he's been sailing the seas for well over two hundred years and many boldly assume that his tale is but a work of fiction or a myth.. needless to say, it is not either.
