Atlas Calhoun came into the world with nothing but expectations, demands and grievances lumped upon his back. He was expected to take care of the business that Killian Calhoun had built for his family with only the promise of a 'wealthy lifestyle' to look forward to. He was groomed and prepared for a world that would not be as kind as he was, a world that didn't care if he was a success or a failure. Atlas was quite literally created with the world already placed upon his broad shoulders.
A simpler man who valued experience more than material goods, Atlas didn't begin his fine tuned rebellion until he was in his late teens.
An unspoken of argument within his own family earned him a trip out to the backwoods of the Calhoun family's home property. Staying against the wishes of his paternal grandfather, Atlas found a better start to a new life working and helping Euphraim around the woods. He took a job for the first year out there working at a Saw Mill, earning his own way to support himself.
At 18 he enlisted, his grandfather morbidly delighted that his grandchild would go to fight in a war and could potentially bring back much accolade. He climbed to rank of Lance Corporal, taking a specialist position as a machine gunner, writing home often to Euphraim and his extended family. Atlas did one tour of duty and was nearly killed toward the end of his tour when a sniper shot him from a rooftop.
Honorably discharged with a purple heart, his return home should have been met with love and gratitude for his (mostly) solid return.. but he received nothing but scorn, judgement and disappointment from Killian and his parents. Realizing that his family would have much preferred a folded flag in his stead, Atlas returned to the backwoods to work and stay with his great uncle, helping briefly raise his younger cousins while doing work back at the sawmill.
Six years ago, for some reason Atlas left Los Suenos on a whim seemingly in the dead of the night. Now he's back and looking to put his roots back down on the family property, eager to help the family flourish.
