Furwyrms are not exactly the cousin of the famed wyrm. They have no wings, nor legs but have the ability to fly without them, whether it is some form of magic or if something else is at play is often kept secret by their own kind, though there have been many theories. One popular theory that has yet to be confirmed or denied is that there are inflatable organs concealed by their fur covered bodies. This would act similarly to the swim bladder in many aquatic species. Another difference between them and the typical wyrm is they are heavily wrapped in fur, usually soft and beautiful, from dog like snout to the tuft on their tail. It is rumored that they once had legs, in a similar fashion of snakes, but due to their life spans this is less likely to be true.

They are capable of shifting into human shapes, though this can be quite stressful on their bodies and mentalities. They prefer their natural state, though for the comfort of others will either shift entirely or shrink to a more managable size. Despite prefering to be themselves, they resent ever being called animals or creatures, they view themselves quite equal to humans if not the dominant species, they claim to have been here first after all. They have ancient cities, with scrolls upon books about histories mankind has never even seen before. It is widely believed they are not as old as they claim but good luck to any who dare express this. They are known to be good lecturers, and will spend hours schooling those who have different opinions, even if they originally agreed.

Furwyrms are oviparous, rather than having live births they reproduce with fertilized eggs, which makes it difficult for them to properly reproduce, many of the furwyrms left to this day have never attempted to reproduce as the mother parent, prefering to raise a child as the father. Some enjoy being mothers if they can find another furwyrm to claim as a spouse, but many do not have this luck, having to find love in interspecies relationships. Even if they are capable of shifting into a human shape, it is difficult to concieve in this manner, though not impossible, but many find it is an awkward conversation to be had with outsiders.

They are not usually religious, what is known is limited but it seems there is no current diety for their species as a whole. Some will convert to other religions but most spend their time denying the existence of gods, most have been alive for centuries upon centuries, and they do not even bury their own dead. Simply because unless one is killed, they do not die. Naturally they are even resistent to most diseases, there has not been a recorded plague that has even dented them. However there has been war that has spilled their blood, and they were once seen as a priceless asset during war, as they could shift and fly, while being hardy and strong, but not invincible.
