Tess grew up in the life with a Marine father and a mother who was a school teacher. Life was hard when dad was not around, but her mom made the time for Tess and her two older brothers, Jaime and Nick. They did a lot of traveling when her dad was most active, but after a while it got hard not having a stable home life. Her mom moved the family to be closer to her maternal grandparents in the suburbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Giving the kids a chance to go to a school where they could establish friends and get a decent education. When her dad came from deployment, sometimes he was not all there. Some of the time he was still in battle mode, and talked to the family like they were soldiers and not family. To seek help, the family moved to Austin, Texas where the laid down permanent roots.
Fast forward to when she was finishing up high school, Tess's dad opened a mechanic shop that was run by veterans. Tess went on to attend the University of Texas, and get a double major in psychology and business. Working summers in between at her dad's shop, and also bar tending to help pay off debt.
Now these days you can find Tess behind the bar at the Pembroke Bar, but she is also going for her Masters in Business Finance so she can start her own non profit to help displaced vets to integrate back in to civilian life.
