Tansy Bakersfield

Tansy didn't inherit much on her elven side in terms of height and willowy grace, she mostly just looks human, save for her pointed ears and the interesting colours of her hair and eyes. She stands at a meager 5'4, though holds herself as though she's much taller when she's doing business.

Her skin is a warm medium brown in hue, scattered with dark freckles from spending a lot of time in the sun- mostly concentrated on her nose, cheeks, and arms. It has the kind of glow where it looks as though she's never had a pimple a day in her life (don't be fooled, she spends a lot of time crafting lotions and potions for her skincare routine). Her hair is the golden-yellow of a field of wheat, a great swathe of bouncing curls that struggle against whatever attempts to hold them. Usually it's a ribbon or a kerchief binding them back, though it isn't long before a few make their escape. Her eyes are an even brighter gold, big and shining like the sun. They are set in a broad, friendly face, with a wide nose, plush, upturned lips, long fluttering lashes, and thick, straight eyebrows. She smiles a lot, whether it's to sell you her product or because she's genuinely happy, who can say?

Her body is curvy, bordering on plump, with her hips being the widest point. Pear-shaped, she has generous, plush thighs, hips, and buttocks, but rather smaller breasts. Her stomach is soft, but her arms are quite muscular for her form- she spends a lot of time digging, stirring potions, and carrying things.

She typically dresses as one would expect for a travelling alchemist and herbalist- very frumpy, traditional clothing in earthy tones, lots of crone-like jewelry, bottles and potions strewn about on her form. Tansy is very aware that looking like a witch is half the selling point, and she does her best to look the part in towns where she sets up shop. She even has big, round glasses that make her look at least ten years older. Her travelling and brewing clothes are much more reasonable. Knee-high, waterproof leather boots, comfortable, durable palazzos and a blouse, with an apron absolutely covered in pockets tied over top is her go-to look- add shawl and/or cloak if it's chilly out. Tansy is frequently covered in dirt, grass, leaves, and gods know what else in her pursuit of ingredients for her potions, and she's incredibly thankful that her Mother taught her spells for cleaning.

Tansy is a woman used to wearing various masks. She learned quickly that people don't want to buy potions and tinctures from a girl who looks and acts newly cut from her Mother's apron strings, and had to craft a trustworthy persona.

This is 'Mama Nettles', an older half-elf woman who acts like a stern, but caring grandmother. Always with a smile, a friendly ear, and sweets for the little ones, Mama Nettles has earned a reputation as a knowledgeable, no-nonsense witch. It's amazing how much a frumpy style, a walking stick, and horn-rimmed glasses can age a person, and with her pointy ears, people just assume that she looks young because she's part elf rather than because she actually is young.

Mama Nettles knows how to haggle with the best of them, can dole out advice, always listens to the latest gossip, and has a potion or charm for just about anything that a common person could possibly need.

Mama Nettles is completely exhausting.

Tansy prefers being on the road, with just her and her horses, over the towns and villages she visits. Tansy much prefers animals over people. She's timid with people, and can get overwhelmed easily. She has a hard time understanding others, and society in general, feeling as though she doesn't quite belong with humanity.

Despite her dislike of society, she has an empathetic and caring heart. If she sees someone in need, she'll often go out of her way to help them, especially animals and magical beasts. This can often get her in trouble, but she's a resourceful woman, and has managed to get herself out of all the sticky situations she blunders into so far.

She has a healthy respect for nature and the world, and never takes more than she needs. She's an expert forager, and knows how to correctly harvest everything so as to not damage the environment too much. Unlike many, she goes out of her way to replace whatever she takes, using her nature magic to feed the earth where she's harvested something, giving it the energy it needs to grow anew. She firmly believes in sustainable harvesting, and will scold anyone she catches disrespecting nature.

When it comes to exploring, Tansy has less sense than she should. She loves finding places where no human has gone before, and is overeager in her pursuit of her special interests, sometimes to her own detriment.

Tansy loves nothing more than being by herself in the woods, surrounded by nature, feeling the breeze on her skin, smelling the plants. Sometimes she thinks about romance, but she finds herself hard pressed to put up with anyone longer than a night or two at most. She's happy with the way things are now- just her and her horses.

Tansy is an accomplished alchemist, herbalist, hedgewitch, and saleswoman. She's good at foraging and finding new ingredients, creating recipes, and has an excellent memory for facts concerning her special interests.

She's good at housekeeping and extremely self sufficient- she has to be, travelling alone on the road.

Her casting talents are in nature magic and hearth magic, though she mostly uses her magic to facilitate her brewing.
