NOTE: Dream Candy is only offered when Xyale is intoxicated, and there's always a price to pay. This is a capitalist world, and Xyale is absolutely going to capitalize. Dream Candy cannot be stolen and will never be sold in Bridge Town for profit. Characters will only have the opportunity to buy Dream Candy if Xyale likes them. Dream candy is just a fun way for you to prompt different emotions and situations with your characters. The only addictive quality is what YOU make it.

But what is it...?
Dream Candy is a peculiar indulgence, designed to unlock the hidden corners of the mind and bring out unexpected facets of a character's personality. Each 'flavor' creates a surreal experience, whether it's heightened emotions, hilarious missteps, or strange revelations. Perfect for exploring your character's quirks, vulnerabilities, or untapped potential in a playful and unpredictable way.

How do I try some?
Trying Dream Candy is as simple, and strange, as being in the right place at the right time with Xyale. If he’s in The Patchwork Palace and happens to like you, he'll offer it casually, as one might extend a drink or a bite to eat. For Xyale, Dream Candy is a token of hospitality. The easiest way to prompt an offer is to let your character mention a lack of sleep or troubled dreams. Just be prepared for him to present it with a grin.

How long does it last?
Dream Candy effects are short-lived, lasting only about 15 minutes before a profound drowsiness overtakes the user. Once the drowsiness sets in, sleep becomes irresistible, and when they finally give in, it will be the most rejuvenating and peaceful rest they've ever experienced. Ever the opportunist, Xyale will do his best to convince anyone who partakes to stay with him during their post-candy haze, often using it as an excuse to cozy up and snuggle them to sleep himself.

So he's basically giving roofies to people he likes?
Yes, exactly.

Isn't that a bit fucked up?
Probably.

The game uses a simple dice rolling system to determine the flavor and effects of the candy on your character. In one post, you will roll 2 dice, 1d4 and 1d6. You can reference the flavor and effects here, but I'll always make sure to place it at the top of my post next.

Step 1: Choose a Flavor
Xyale will offer one of four flavors of Dream Candy. Each flavor has unique effects ( euphoria, hallucinations, etc.). Role a four-sided die (1d4) to pick the flavor your character tries.

Step 2: The Effects
In the same post, roll a six-sided die (1d6). The result determines how your character experiences the candy’s effect. Effects range from mild and pleasant to intense and chaotic, giving you room to explore their personality in new ways.

Step 3: React
Have fun roleplaying your character’s reaction. Engage with Xyale or other characters. The effects of dream candy last for 15 minutes, and then your character will become very very sleepy, followed by the most amazing sleep of their life.

Description
Dream Candy has a glossy, jewel-like outer shell that is impossibly thin yet hard, catching the light like a shard of polished glass. Beneath the shell, the center is a burst of liquid and chewy texture. Holding Dream Candy is like cradling a drop of moonlight; cool to the touch, yet it seems to hum softly in your palm as though alive with unspoken promise. When chewed, the shell cracks with a satisfying snap, releasing the dreamlike center in a rush of 'flavor' that vanishes too quickly, leaving only a ghost of its strange sensation behind. It carries an aroma that is soft and faintly surreal, like dew evaporating at sunrise, mingled with whispers of something you can’t quite place, both nostalgic and otherworldly. As the liquid center of Dream Candy bursts across your tongue, it feels like a ripple through your very being, a fleeting shiver that seems to echo in your chest. For 13 seconds, the world remains steady, almost too steady, as if reality is holding its breath. Then, like the soft collapse of a dream meeting wakefulness, the effects begin to seep in, subtle at first, before enveloping you entirely.

Glory's Sweet - A flavor that tastes like the moment sunlight kisses your face through a window, leaving behind a fleeting memory of comfort.

Whispers Veil - A taste like a forgotten song on the edge of recall, sweet and strange, slipping away as you try to pin it down.

Fool's Delight - Crisp and invigorating, like the air before a thunderstorm, leaving a faint crackle on your tongue.

Darkening Bliss - Smooth yet elusive, like the sound of a distant voice calling you home, layered with bittersweet longing.

Effect: A burst of euphoric energy that fills the character with a sense of invincibility and boundless confidence. They feel ready to take on the world, unafraid of challenges.


1d6 Dice Roll
1-2: Overconfidence leads to impulsive behavior. The character acts without thinking, leading to potentially dangerous or foolish decisions.
3-4: The character experiences a surge of energy and confidence. They engage in bold actions, pushing themselves to take risks or try new things.
5-6: The character feels like nothing can stop them. They take on the world with ease, effortlessly achieving their goal or feeling larger-than-life for a time.

2 ᏇᏂᎥᏕᎮᏋᏒ'Ꮥ ᏉᏋᎥᏝ
Effect: A calming, dreamlike sensation that opens the character to strange, fleeting visions and a peaceful sense of detachment. Thoughts become hazy and introspective, leaving them lost in their own world.


1d6 Dice Roll
1-2: The character becomes lost in hallucinations or confusing visions. They may have trouble distinguishing between reality and the dream world, leading to disorientation or confusion.
3-4: A peaceful, almost zen-like state. The character feels serene, but distant from others, as if they are floating above the world, detached from daily concerns.
5-6: A deep dream experience floods the character’s mind with cryptic visions. They may gain an intuitive feeling or sudden insight, but it’s unclear whether it’s truly useful or just a fleeting fantasy.

3 ᎦᎧᎧᏝ'Ꮥ ᎴᏋᏝᎥᎶᏂᏖ
Effect: A playful, giddy sensation that causes the character to laugh, joke, and act in a whimsical manner. Everything becomes amusing, and they may act without thinking, guided purely by amusement.



1d6 Dice Roll
1-2: The character is overwhelmed by uncontrollable laughter. They may struggle to keep a straight face in serious situations and might even find themselves unable to focus for a while.
3-4: A burst of joy and playfulness. The character becomes more flirtatious, mischievous, or whimsical, often finding humor in the mundane or playing harmless pranks.
5-6: The character is flooded with giddiness and lightheartedness. They may initiate spontaneous, fun interactions or ideas, making everything feel like a game or light-hearted adventure.

4 ᎴᏗᏒᏦᏋᏁᎥᏁᎶ ᏰᏝᎥᏕᏕ
Effect: A deep, intoxicating pleasure mixed with a sense of unease. The character may feel overwhelmed by intense sensations, as their mind wavers between pleasure and paranoia, unsure where one ends and the other begins.


1d6 Dice Roll
1-2: Paranoia clouds the character’s mind. They become suspicious or overly cautious, questioning everyone and everything around them, possibly creating tension with others.
3-4: A mix of pleasure and discomfort. The character may act recklessly or impulsively, chasing the high or seeking new sensations while ignoring any consequences.
5-6: The character is fully engulfed in bliss. They feel euphoric but may become lost in their own mind, disconnected from reality but experiencing everything in vivid detail. They might feel detached or float in a state of blissful abandon.
