  • Meeting a Fae



    Rule One: Do not readily accept food or drink from the Fair Folk. All gifts are not to be accepted or given lightly.
    Rule Two: Names have power. True Names have even more.
    Rule Three: The Fair Folk take their debts very seriously. They always fulfill their promises, and they expect the same of you. Phrases like ‘thank you’ and ‘I’m sorry’ can imply debt.
    Rule Four: Do not mention your newborn babes or children to the fae, lest you end up with a changeling in your midst.
    Rule Five: Fae like the finer, and sweeter things in life. Offer these things.
    Rule Six: Beware the song and dance of the Fae, for their enchanting sound may trap you.
    Rule Seven: Within the worlds of Faerie, what you see, touch, smell, and taste may not be real. Your senses will deceive you. What you know to be true is not true.

  • Appearance

    Standing at roughly 10 spans high and weighing nearly 30 stone, Gwym has a herculean physique, standing imposing and broad among the other Dokkalfar. As a Myrmidon, Gwym has undergone many physical changes throughout his life to eventually become the living siege weapon he is today. He has dark, almost bronze skin, and the scales that line his face and body are even darker, almost pitch black.

    His coarse, dark brown hair is shaved down the sides and then worn in a tight braid down the center, adorned with silver beads. His eyes are a bright, lush green, a striking contrast from his otherwise dark demeanor and complexion. Gwym's face is hardened by years of battle -- despite the extremely slow crawl of aging within his species, his habit of consistently furrowing his brow, or frowning, have given him some creases in his skin. He either wears his facial hair in a sharp braid, or keeps it clean shaven/a slight stubble.

    He is often seen wearing symbolic war paint, wearing the symbology of his homeland, sigils of strength and protection, often in colors of woad blue and henna red. His ear lobes and septum are pierced, but he only wears simple silver jewelry that is unlikely to be pulled on.

    Below that paint, lays the scars of the evidence of the sacrifice of his magic. Litchenberg scars line the entirety of his body, and while they sometimes fade, or even disappear entirely when he regenerates/cocoons, they will always return. A mark of his magic. When he uses his storm magic, these scars will start to glow with a silvery shimmer, obfuscating the area around him with ozone and mist as his magic, and his markings, grow in power.

    His body is covered in a polished chitin, with a much more thorough covering than that of his smaller Dokkalfar brethren. Much like a male scarab beetle, two horns sprout out of the top of his head and forehead, crowned in either side by two slender antennae. His horns are very large, even among the Myrmidons, indicating his long life and virility. His wings, while not effective for long distance flight, are effective tools in battle to help him remain agile despite his bulky size. They are comparable in shape, pattern and color to the Oleander Hawk Moth.

  • Magic and Abilities

    Gwym is a force of nature in his own right. The magic he uses could be easily categorized as 'storm magic'. One of the warnings of the impending Wild Hunt is a seemingly persistant storm that follows them wherever they go, yet never seems to bother them nor slow them down. This storm is concentrated within Gwym himself, and even when he is not currently engaged in a Hunt/using his magic, he has a very stormy demeanor.

    Conjuring lightning and torrents of rain, triggering landslides and floods and even forest/bush fires with the intensity of his magic. He uses this magic to drive his quarry, confusing and disorientating them. His touch itself is electric. It is not uncommon for a slight overcast, or rolling thunder, to follow him whenever he is outside, such is the intensity in which the spirits of the air and sky react to him. He has gained mastery over these elemental spirits, to a degree. Despite his magical abilities, he does not consider himself to be a mage, nor all that classically trained -- it's all instinct, honed over centuries of experience.


    He is extremely strong and surprisingly agile for his immense size. While all Dokkalfar possess a strength considered impressive by the average human, the Myrmidon class is on another level, and Gwym is a shining example of this. Every aspect of his body is honed for warfare. Pain does not stop him -- in fact, he even welcomes it, entering an almost 'berserk', trance like state in the heat of battle.

    Gwym wields a massive obsidian greatsword, one that easily stands at least as big as a small Dokkalfar. He is also skilled with a longbow. His martial ability is highly revered among the Dokkalfar, who value strength in all its forms above all. Despite the fact that Myrmidons are essentially a slave caste, they are a highly respected and even adored caste for their power and loyalty, and so he is afforded privileges that most raised-slaves could only dream of. Indeed, he moves like a free man, and it shows in his fighting style -- he is brutal, untamed, yet surprisingly calculated and deliberate in battle.
