Background Summary

Rhett was born to two Irish Immigrants who settled in rural Kansas, his family comes from old money. His father was a businessman and after moving into the U.S. he had begun working on a grain farm. His mother ran a church in their small town, along with being a tutor for young children.

However, during a tough drought year the farm Rhett's father worked at had gone out of business which left the family with poor income, causing their savings to dwindle. When Rhett turned 16 he began to work as a newsboy, delivering papers around town but it was not as lucrative as he assumed. At least it brought in some money. The Holmes family fortune had quickly began to vanish, the family quickly becoming poor by the time Rhett had reached the age of 19. By that time he had picked up the job of taming wild horses, bringing them to stables to sell.

When Rhett turned 20 he left home, off to explore what the rest of the world had to offer.

Personality

Rhett is a man who thinks for himself, he may listen to what others have to say but overall there is a slim chance he will soak in the information let alone follow any advice given to him. He is a self-denying man, if he runs into homeless, anyone less fortunate than him he will give up whatever he can to aid in their life. Even if that means he gives away his last coin or last piece of bread for that week. But, he can be very resourceful and has skills in foraging and hunting. He can make tools from scraps, build shelter from trash and has incredible street smarts.

His time away from home had led him into trouble plenty of times throughout the years, this leading to a plethora of incidents, one of which gave him the scars across his face. His mental had been affected by these moments so from time to time he can be quite unstable. With poor emotional and impulse control he can wind up making tension worse, or even laughing at inappropriate times.

With his street smarts Rhett has become quite deceptive, being able to swindle deals and on the occasion steal from market stalls and general stores. He can trick a poor sucker out of a good deal, cheat at games and spread rumors to cause a stir.
