  • Basic Info

    • Name: Andriana D'Archambault
    • Nicknames: Cackles
    • Personality: Centuries of slaving duress and boredom have turned Andriana into a rebellious, mischievous prankster, though she proves to be strangely friendly. While she is far from a heartless killer, she is a survivor and intensely attached to her freedom, and is ready to fight and kill for it.
    • Mannerisms: Both ladylike and theatrical, she tends to dramatize her reactions with exagerated gestures and expressions. She can be very tactile, brushing her hands against her interlocutors, especially if she finds them attractive, and even moreso if they're embroiled in a fight.
    • Likes: Andriana enjoys simple fun, gothic esthetics and music, harmless (most of the time) pranks and sturdy playmates who can take heat and give it back. She sometimes sows chaos for the satisfaction of seeing how it plays out.
    • Dislikes: She makes a habit to break rules and to bother "party-poopers" in particular. One thing she will never suffer again: being forced to do something.

  • Description

    Andriana looks like a young college-aged woman with a slightly shorter stature. She has an athletic build with slightly defined muscles, long legs and some curves. Her long neck, round face, small upturned nose and almond-shaped eyes make her very appealing to modern beauty standards, a fact she is well aware of.

    While her skin is somewhat cold-toned, some would say like that of a corpse, she uses blush to give make it more lively and less cadaveric. On the other hand, she makes plenty use of black eyeliner and lip ink to contrast against her fair skin. Her dirty blonde hair, forming playful curls and waves, is so susceptible to light they are constantly sun-bleached. She generally keeps them in a bun at the back of her head, using her Arsenal as a pick to hold it in place.

    Her daytime wardrobe is at the intersection of gothic and punk, often skimpier tops like crop tops or oversized shirts that ride off her shoulder with either jackets or hoodies over top, or fishnet underneath. It's not rare for her to wear laced dresses or skirts, but she most often wears sturdy jeans that can take on whatever hikinks she often puts them through. She always wears a choker, even if otherwise in the nude: it hides her bite mark.

    When incarnating Cackles -her secret identity- she dresses up as a clown of white and gold: a jabot shirt, a checkered coat with thick, playful tails, a jester hood with large bells, tight leggings that mold around her curves. This outfit isn't just for show and fun, however: her legs and forearms are protected by plates of ornate steel that prevent any unruly opponent from cutting her limbs off.

    Similarly, as Cackles, she wears a different makeup that obscures her identity: streaks of white facepaint cover her freckles, large reddish brown diamonds are painted around her eyes, a red button nose and heart-shaped lipstick give her a more clown-like appearance. Her hair is let down and, with a few shakes of her head, given more volume, while her Arsenal shapeshifts from a hair pick into any weapon she would need: a lance, a greatsword, an oversized mace...

    Superhuman Physicality -
    Andriana is superhumanly strong, agile, fast and tough. The more blood she's drunk recently, the more superhuman she becomes.
    Regeneration -
    Andriana can regenerate at a superhuman pace, regrowing limbs and healing from mortal wounds. However, her superhuman regeneration does not work on wounds inflicted by silver (which is why her piercings are all made out of that material). By staking her heart, her regeneration is stopped and she is put in torpor. If she is exposed to sunlight then, she turns to dust.
    Enhanced Senses -
    Andriana's senses are enhanced to a completely superhuman level: she can track people and gauge their emotions by smell, she can hear heartbeats from meters away and she can discern tiny details from large distances.
    Personal Telekinesis -
    Andriana can fly as if pulled in the air by invisible strings and walk on walls and ceilings as if they were level by altering her personal gravity.
    Shapeshifting -
    Andriana can turn into a wolf, a swarm of bats or locusts or a horde of rats. After drinking someone's blood, she can take their likeness for a few hours.
    Fascination -
    Andriana can get inside the head of people with prolonged eye contact, making her very magnetic and charismatic to whoever she is affecting. It tends to work much less against stronger willed or alert targets, but can bend most day-to-day folks to her will in subtle ways.

    High Society -
    Andriana was raised in high society and has developped incredible skills in language (she is fluent in French, English, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Russian and Arabic, and she has notions of Latin), dance or even politics. She has a sharp tongue and a sense for manipulation. Finally, she knows how to set a table, choose and put on clothing or even write and recite poetry.
    Atheltics -
    From her time as an acrobat in her sire's circus and thanks to her powers as a vampire, she's become an incredible acrobat. She's also deft at stealth, climbing or contortionism.
    Martial Arts -
    Through the years, she has procured many martial art manuals and has mastered many unarmed and weapon-using martial arts. Today, her style seems haphazard and strange, weaving completely different arts together as her Arsenal shapeshifts into new weapons.

  • Treasures

    The Arsenal -
    Stolen from Andriana's husband, the Arsenal is a shapeshifting weapon. It can turn into any implement of death, as long as it doesn't have moving parts. A dagger, a spear, a greatsword or even a bow, but not a firearm. Its true form is that of a hairpick, and it is inhabited by some kind of sentience, though it can only communicate through vague feelings.

    • Tattoos and Piercings: She has a piercing on the side of her nose, a few earrings along her lobes and a navel piercing.

  • History

    Andriana was born in spring of 1544 in Archambault, in France. Her father was the local duke and her mother a young Italian lady, daughter of low nobility but with great beauty. Her birth was soon followed by a stillborn brother and finally two living ones. Not keen on raising her siblings and being made into a good wife to sell off to another nobleman, Andriana ran away with nothing but a horse, a bag of essentials, a few days of food and a sword at 15 years old.

    After a couple years spent wandering, stealing and robbing to survive, she was picked up by a group of bandits near Bourges whom she tried to steal a new horse from. The little "pup" became somewhat of a mascot: they were all quite amused by the idea of a feral young lady who could speak French, English and Italian, who had some notions of ancient Latin, who could write and recite poetry, who could dance and converse about politics, who had a strong sense of fashion and yet in spite of all that could take down a grown man with a spear, or with a sword and the effect of surprise.

    When the group of outlaws became too prolific for the surrounding authorities, they were forced to disband or face death. Andriana traveled west to Nantes. On the road, while she was taking a rest at Angers, she met a troupe of traveling comedians who were planning to get to the same city. Her beauty and strange skillset seduced their leader, who decided to take her in his company --- and bed. The man revealed himself to be a creature of the dark, a vampire of centuries past. He turned her on their first night, mere weeks after her twenty-first birthday, giving her eternal youth and immense power at the cost of her freedom.

    Decades of servitude turned into centuries spent at the leash of a monster. Andriana found solace in the joyful characters she played: clowns and mimes of loud laughter who cackled in the face of tragedy. In 1868, as the troupe had moved to the United States in search of new, more profitable horizons, she was finally "saved" by a monster hunter who staked both her and her husband, murdering most of the hellish circus they had amassed. While she couldn't savor her freedom, this shattered the iron grip her sire had on her.

    In 2019, she was dug out of the ground by a group of teenagers who sought to unearth the corpse of a vampire for bragging rights. While they were understandbly frightened at the sight of her coming back to unlife as soon as they unstaked her completely preserved body, she did no harm to them. Instead, she fled and has since been catching up on all the things she missed.
