WYLAND WYRMWOOD

The silhouette of a cowboy is often instantly identifiable, and that fact is no different in Wylie's case. His shape and shadow have been sewn together at the seams, like a cloth doll, to always look just like what he is.

Tall, long-legged, big, curvy hat with a wide brim. Keeps the sun off'im. The bandana keeps prying eyes away from the lower half of his face, obscured behind the maximal-printed fabric that is often changed. Dressed always in fullest Western regalia, ready as much for hands-on work as he is for a long cattle drive.

The bandana never comes off. He won't remove it. Whatever is underneath is only visible through snatches, but appears to be desiccated and sunken.

Possessed by some mad disease, it seems, that causes him to never stop roaming or traveling. He's been everywhere in the scope of his world ten or fifteen times. Doesn't seem to die, or age, much to the shock of the local folk who simply assume he's got to be a very old man.

Likes his tobacco very much, smokes a lot. Won't accept anything from anybody but money. Doesn't like to talk but he will sometimes soften, at a bar counter, bent over a meal that disappears under that cloth. Talented at sitting perfectly still in a stoic silence, like a statue, seeming to not breathe.

Collects his bounties well, and does so to feed half-souls to a hell that won't give him himself back and to eat the other half, for himself, so he can keep moving.

Accompanied always by Ingydar, an Appaloosa, and Pup, a blue tick Australian cattle dog.

Wyland won't specify where he was born and generally not even the last town he blew in from.

Wyland is a traveler who is always seeking new bounties. He does not really subscribe to the 'or alive' part of 'dead or alive'.

A good horse and a good dog.
Wyland regards his horse, Ingydar, and his dog, Pup, as partners and friends more than pets. They are not the first horse and dog he has had, and are not the last he will have.

Desiccated, thickly scarred, kissed gently in places by grave green.
Leprous in appearance and mostly hidden from sight and sun. Pale where it is marred by scar, flushed where it has been assaulted by scrape and wound. Bruises easily and in a large way. Tender to the touch in a deeply intimate way that Wyland does not like repeating.

Acrid, sweet, choking; smooth and warm. Undertones of sweat.

CLOTHING
All cowboy, all the time.
Even in a state of relaxation, Wylie is always kitted out. He can always be found in a dark, telescope-style wide-brimmed cowboy hat, a Western shirt, a vest or waistcoat (often unbuttoned and left open), trousers (sometimes dark denim), leather chaps, tall boots without spurs, a thick belt with a decorative buckle (sometimes simple, sometimes more ornate), and a neckerchief or bandana large enough to be pulled up and over the bridge of his nose, which appears to be either a silver or bronze prosthetic depending on what day you catch him. He wears a jacket lined in fur when it makes sense to, as well as a woolen poncho. His poncho and bandanas change in design and muted color but the rest of his clothes are typically dark, slate grey or black with accents of gold or silver. Does he coordinate with whatever nose prosthetic he has on? Why yes, yes he does.

JEWELRY
Facial prosthesis.
Given the ornate nature of his prosthetics, it could be categorized as jewelry. The noses he wears, of which he has a few, are often gently etched or inscribed with whorls and designs, a sort of metal rosemaling for the face. They are either bronze or silver in color, though he does seem to own a singular gold nose prosthetic.

OTHER NOTABLE POSSESSIONS
The saddlebags are full and promising.
What has he got in there? Sometimes people can't find themselves able to pay by monetary means, and Wyland will accept other things that he then sells off for a price somewhere else. These range from silver plates and candlesticks to rare books and other items. Wylie also lugs around an ornate banjo, a well-decorated harmonica, a painted guitar, and a variety of guns and ammo as well as camping supplies, food, and medical miscellany.

PERSONALITY
There was rarely ever a more brusque or short-worded person. Wylie is the embodiment of dry, dusty sociability; he isn't one to waste words or elaborate. He doesn't favor verbal detail nor does he enjoy talking overmuch. He is prone to long silences, finds them comfortable, and subjects others to them whether or not they enjoy it. Clipped as well as blunt, Wyland is also not one for currying favor, either; he is often painfully honest to an awkward or insulting degree. He deems lying a waste of time and also does not enjoy being lied to.

His moral code is fairly grey and he is not a black-and-white thinker. He is someone shaped by violence but not a fan of it, strangely more prone to trying to find a pacifistic solution to issues he encounters rather than immediately resorting to violence. In strange tandem with this is his seeming complete and utter desensitization to death. Wyland seems to simultaneously value the living and have a tender outlook toward them while also recognizing and utilizing the fact that people can die on the turn of a coin. He regards those who violate the human rights of others as having forfeited their humanity, though he isn't against a second chance or a change of heart even despite being willing to cull someone for displaying rabid behavior. He is a case-by-case operator, and someone acutely aware of the tenuous connection he still holds to humanness, himself.

Despite his outward guardedness and lack of obvious sympathy, Wylie is softhearted at his core. He carries the weight of guilt on his back like an everlasting, hot sun. His mistakes haunt him like innumerable ghosts, whispering to him at odd hours. He has a tendency to ruminate, and yearn from an empty, hollow place within himself. He fluctuates between neutrality and not fine and it is during the latter moods that one may want to avoid him, especially those who find their bounty is held in his hand.
