Michael is the sort of person that, if it were possible, would have a little, dreary storm cloud following him around wherever he went. It’s not that he’s sad all the time, but it’s more like he’s trying to leave puddles that he hopes you might slip in. He’s a dour, unexcitable person who wants to make conversations short and hopes others ask as little as possible about him. It’s almost certainly clear that it’s not because he doesn’t like talking – by god, the man will go off on something if inspired – but because he’s the irritating sort of guy who wants to keep others at arm’s length for no beneficial reason. This behavior is an active choice, you see, and he’s kind of awful at upkeeping his careless, lone wolf persona.

You can’t point it out if it slips, though.

If there’s something Michael likes to do, it’s complain and argue. He likes to feel like he’s right and he’ll do anything in his power not to concede defeat and losing does put him in a sour mood most of the time. If someone comes to him with particularly good gossip or banter, his veneer of displeasure will slowly morph away into obvious interest. He’ll ask questions, offer opinions, and say all the things he doesn’t normally say. He’s actually pretty good at advice if you can get in his good graces long enough for him to give any.

Michael is most comfortable with what’s familiar. He’s a creature of habit and routine, and things that upset the norms will have him frazzled and instantly divested of his comfort zone. It takes a persistent sort of person to get under Michael’s skin and stay there. If you give up on him, he’ll give up on you even quicker, but if you stick with him, he’ll bite your enemies like a scraggly little rat dog.

Standing at around 5'7", Michael is certainly not the largest of men out there. He's scrawny, narrow, and could probably be blown over by a strong enough breeze. His posture is straight-backed and confident despite this, and he will do his best to never show an ounce of weakness -- you won't be fooled because Michael is not very physically adept. There's a bookish, scholarly air to his presence and a permanent frown on his lips. It's a miracle he hasn't gotten more wrinkles from it.

His hair is a coffee tone with obvious streaks of white stemming from his forehead and temples, and it's just long enough to extend an inch or two past his shoulders. His eyes are an unremarkable brown, at least that he thinks, and surrounded by short, bristly eyelashes. His nose is hooked at the bridge and ends in a narrow point, sharp not unlike his jaw and cheekbones. He always sports a little scruff on his chin no matter how much he tries to clean it up. There is a scar bisecting one of his eyebrows and it looks fairly old.

His skin is light brown and covered in dottings of moles and thick body hair. He does not have any notable tattoos or markings.

As for clothing, Michael tends to wear either muted, earthy tones or dulled patterns that appear like they were once vibrant. He has the look of someone who should work in a library or, at least, run some sort of art class on Tuesdays. He does neither. Michael is not one to wear any accessories or jewelry, but he does have a pair of glasses that he's forced to use for reading. He also carries with him a cross-body messenger bag that is as plain as a messenger bag can get.

Though he doesn't need an instrument to generate his Vibe, he does have an equally old mandolin that he'll sometimes play for a beat. It's painted gray with a smattering of leaves. He will refer to it as his 'old boy' if he refers to it at all.
