Alicella

(This character was created for the RPR Collaborative OC Event! Thank you so much to Fantax and FadedTapestry for providing their ideas and helping me create this brand new character!)

Most spirits are not born from the wood or the stone or the flowers or any other beautiful things you encounter on your day to day walks. They merely grew into those forms. Most spirits, indeed, are born from a time much deeper, a time before trees and flowers and even animals and air. These spirits once existed in the primordial depths of acidic, lifeless oceans. These spirits once floated within the emptiness of a seemingly dead universe, unmoving, unable to enact their true will. But then life came, and these spirits possessed exactly what they needed. A physicality. Something to bind themselves to. And like the animals and plants and fungi, many of those rose from that murky abyss from which they were born, and never looked back. They became the spirits of the air, the rivers, the trees, the spirits that one day would make up animals, and indeed, people.

But some never left.

Some remained within the depths, rising and falling like the vast tides of the oceans.

Eventually, they rose up, spurned on by something greater than themselves.

The Great Fisher, a great and ancient oceanic spirit, shining with iridescent plates across a serpentine body and gnashing their terrible maw, called upon their subjects to enact their will. And they spilled into the rivers, into the land, into the villages and cities of men and elves and fae. The bottom feeders, the sightless, blind creatures of the deep, they were rising up at the command of their queen.

And the greatest of the Great Fisher's servants was the humble detrivore, scurrying upon the earth and cleaning up the messes of others. Alicella was one of the greatest at enacting the Great Fisher's will. And the Fisher's will was to do what they did best - clean. Clean the rot, before it consumed them all.

And so they did, Alicella dedicates every aspect of their being to 'cleaning' up the messes of mortals -- usually by very violent and disturbing means.

-a spirit of the oceans who instead of taking on one singular vessel to make up their corporeal form, instead is made up of thousands of little vessels. i.e aquatic scavengers.
-often refers to itself as a plural 'they', or 'it'.
-wears a wide brim hat (like really wide) and also a lacquered mask to hide their ghastly appearance.
-tall and gangly. has a strange, slightly unwieldy gait.
-enjoys standing at the edge of fishermen and sailor's periphery and freaking them tf out.
-they are basically made up of thousands of little creatures, like scuds/isopods/daphnia/water bugs/bristle worms/etc etc, held together by a mix of illusionary glamours, polymorphy, and control over creatures of the water.
-they have an identity outside of the beings that make up their body, but they have begun to meld into a sort 'hivemind'
-ultimate scavenger, is not necessarily a pirate or smuggler themselves but has worked with them for their own ends
-very good at boarding ships and 'commandeering' them, by force.
-serves a much greater being (maybe this is where the bobbit worm character could come in??) than itself, know as the 'Great Fisher'.
-has a vigilante sense of 'justice' against many of the sapient races of beatha, particularly humans and alfar. views them as excess chaff, as a rot that needs to be chewed away to see if theres even any living tissue left to save, or if its rotten to the core.
-wants to believe humans and fae are rotten to the core, often tries to reject ideas and experiences that suggest otherwise
-lives in a houseboat that has a glamour over it to hide the worst of the fact its being slowly eaten away by the elements. covered in barnacles, bioluminescent algae, etc etc. they do their very best to fix and maintain it, as they are attached to their house boat despite its derelict state.
-does odd jobs inbetween basically murdering people it views as contributing to the rot that is encroaching upon the world
-sometimes the critters that make up their body can start 'melting' and falling off them
