    Born into the enigmatic and reclusive Vale family, Theodore was the only child of two legendary antiquarians whose private holdings rivalled some national museums. His estate — Vale Manor, nestled in the wooded hills of the English countryside — was a fortress of history: Renaissance reliquaries, Mesopotamian tablets, Byzantine icons, occult manuscripts, and countless other priceless and often unclassifiable objects. No tourists. No scholars. Only the family and the collection.
    His childhood was cloistered, but not cold. He grew up not with toys, but with a wealth of culture, tutored in Latin, history, art restoration, and diplomacy by the age of six. He was reading Sumerian cuneiform by the age of seven. By fifteen, he was outbidding seasoned collectors at anonymous auctions across Europe — already a shadow in the scene, going by pseudonyms, respected and resented in equal measure.

    When Theodore was 23, a mysterious fire tore through the East Wing of Vale Manor — the heart of the collection, and the private chambers of his parents. Both perished in the blaze. The official investigation found no clear cause. Unofficially, rumours spread like ash: sabotage, theft, internal betrayal or worse, that something within the collection had turned against its keepers.
    Theo disappeared for nearly two years following the fire. No interviews. No sightings. No explanations. Some believed he’d died. Others suspected he had gone underground to retrieve stolen pieces... or erase certain truths.
    When he returned, he was changed. A colder, sharper, but impossibly composed. Grief had refined him like obsidian, beautiful, polished, and capable of cutting without warning.
