Biographical History

• The Early Years
Sophia was born in South Korea but moved with her parents to the United States when she was three when her father assumed control of a family textile business in San Francisco. They lived in a comfortable home in Bayview; an ethnically blended suburb. Their street had a majority of Asian families with a mingling of Italian, Latino, and African-American families.

Sophia attended George Washington Carver Elementary school where she was sometimes picked on for being such a skinny kid with an annoying voice. But she quickly learned to make friends, and her goofy, bubbly personality helped her become a fun girl to be around. With the strictness at home, Sophia loved the attention she got at school.

• Teenage Years
On Sophia's thirteenth birthday, She was treated with a day without study. It was such a rare thing for her parents to relent on their pressure. She couldn't leave the house though, and she couldn't have anyone over. Of course, it didn't stop her from sneaking out of her room that night. She had gotten good at it. Dee, a friend from school, was quite the sneaky girl, and she would come over sometimes at night and Sophia would help her sneak into her house so they could play video games. Sophia soon learned to be just as sneaky as her friend.

Willie Brown Middle School was a new experience for Sophia. There were multiple classes per day, and a couple of those classes had male teachers! All of Sophia's elementary teachers had been women. A couple of them were younger, but most were older ladies, so having the handsome Mr Atkinson for two of her six classes ... math first period and science sixth period ... clearly a new and wonderful distraction for her! Mr Atkinson was her first real crush. It was the classes she didn't mind being seated right up front due to her poor eyesight. For first period, she sat to the left right before his desk. In sixth she sat at the right by the classroom door, and was jealous of Mindi Akers who sat in front of his desk. Of course, nothing ever became of it outside Sophia’s mind, but her teenage fantasies ran rampant that year. Also, the beginnings of her rebellious streak started to come forth much to the disappointment of her parents.

• Adulthood
When Sophia graduated Lowell High School with a 3.3 B average, her parents were really disappointed with her. But Sophia had spoken with Mr Haines, the school counselor, and she managed to apply for and get a scholarship to the University of Southern California through a special aid program. Sophia was delighted because she would be moving to Los Angeles from San Francisco which was far enough away from her life-controlling parents, but not so far away to not allow frequent visits.

It seemed when she started her first year there, all that repressed rebellion seemed to spill out, and Sophia, enjoying her sudden freedom, let her wild side take control quite often. She was glad to meet Jane Harper at a 'new student' camp at the beginning who helped moderate her some. Jane then introduced her to her neighbour Jared Ford and his friend Benjamin Brown when she texted inviting her to come to a coffeehouse where they had gathered. Little did Sophia know when she met Jane Harper that she was meeting the bestest of friends!
