Matrimone Cruz

A baby was abandoned on the steps of the Crevice Orphanage. A recently married caregiver opens the door the leave when she spots the small baby. She takes the baby in, giving her the name “Matrimone Cruz” as a nod to the recently married caregiver. When Matrimone was growing up, her caregiver, the one she was saved by, always was the one to watch her; none of the other kids played with Matrimone because of her quietness, and found her weird, and Matrimone finds that her caregiver truly understands her. The Superintendent, a cranky lady, disliked Matrimone Cruz as much as she disliked her, so she sticks beside her caregiver most of the time.
Matrimone was shown to be more mature than the other children, which is a surprise between the caregivers. Matrimone also showed apathy towards other caregivers, but not her main one—she shows her colours towards her. Her caregiver also brought along her child to play with Matrimone, named Pauline. Matrimone and Pauline cared for one another deeply, and Pauline often steps up for Matrimone towards the other children. When she was 10, however, it was informed that her caregiver and her best friend, Pauline, tragically passed on due to a failed airship travel, alongside a couple hundred people in the airship.
Matrimone was devastated, and was forced upon the hands of the superintendent, who always mocked and harassed Matrimone for her uniqueness. Eventually, she made another friend when she was 14. How naive she was. It didn’t take long until she found out her friend was backstabbing her behind her back. She was like all the others: a bully.
In a fit of rage, she stormed off and proceeds to attack the girl, leaving her in a devastating state. She got in a lot of trouble because of that, yet she didn’t even care. This was the start of her hate.
And her hate grew. She cocooned herself, sniping anyone who even talked to her.
Her trust wavered.
Until she met Calvin Fox.
She was 17 in the Crevice’s public library. She was quietly practicing her final exams for school. He approached, asked if he could sit across from her. She obliged for now. Then he made conversation.
She listened as he talked, and sometimes she responded. After, he wanted to see her again when she was about to leave. So, she agreed, and after graduating, they were now lovers, and then to fiancés. She was so overjoyed whenever Calvin was around: he was quiet, funny, and sympathetic, something Matrimone thought she never saw again.
How naive she was.
On their wedding day when she was only 19, she was preparing herself along with Calvin’s sister, a makeup artist. His sister left momentarily, leaving Matrimone to her own thoughts. She and Calvin thought to wear a bit less traditional: Matrimone wore black, Calvin wore white. She decided to step out for air, and walked down the hall. She passed Calvin’s dressing room when she heard something.
She wasn’t supposed to see him for the wedding, but the sound was concerning. So, she creaks the door opened.
Calvin was with Matrimone’s ex-friend. They were locked in a kiss, which Calvin pushed away when it happened. Matrimone saw it all.
The hate returned.
What she didn’t know was that Calvin was intruded by his childhood friend, who he found out really loved him. As much as he denied, she stepped out of bounds, and proceeded to kiss him.
But Matrimone didn’t see this part. She didn’t know.
And she didn’t care.
So out of a fit of rage, she clutched her bouquet of thorny roses and proceeds to strike the both of them multiple times, killing them.
Calvin’s sister heard the commotion and saw the crime: Matrimone went insane.
Matrimone was apprehended by the soldiers of the Crevice, and was put on trial. But her lawyer, Bailey Hukam was incredible that the judge only convicted her to being monitored in her home by guards for a year, which threw the crowd in a fury.
A year later, her house arrest was renewed, and she was free. Now she had nothing left to lose, and still in her wedding dress, she wandered the streets… until the Deathsong found her.
An offer she could not deny.
She only required her bouquet, which was held as a weapon, and it was done.
Her hate only grew more as she climbed the ranks, now earning the second-in-command of the Deathsong.
Now, no one could take what was once hers ever again.
