    Whatever this twisted beast had been before, he was no longer. Dragon scales had been replaced with pebbly orange skin, striped with fat, black marks and pocked and slashed with countless scars. Along the beast's back was were tangled rows of long black spines, ending in white tips. These ran from the back of the skull, down the spine and ending toward the tip of the tail, which ended in a bulge with a nasty spear set into it.
