Bastion is typically all smiles. He hates playing the games of nobility (as he often loses despite his efforts.) Yet it is all he has ever known, so he acts like a noble asshole despite himself. The captain lets the facade drop every now and again, so it is just as likely to find the idiot at a fancy party making small talk as it is to find him at a bar drinking himself under the table.
Bastion has failed to mature, due to his situation and in his heart he is still woefully immature and has been told to take things more seriously on more than a few occasions. You could say he looks like someone determined to be undetermined.
He is a bit racists, favoring felines over others and looking down upon rats and mice. His upbringing has made him unconsciously biased.

- can not stand the smell of oranges, and will do almost anything within his power to get away from it if he can.
- only ever wears a shirts, vests, and pants. He never wears long coats or robes or any other form of clothing with a longer length.

Arranged Marriage: His family could be persuaded to marry him off to either insult another house, or to raise up a much lower one. Bastion would of course not be for this, at all. But would be forced to begrudgingly submit to it by his family.
Friends: The Captain needs someone to walk him back to this ship when he is drunk. That person could be you!
Enemies: Nothing is as much fun as a punch to the gut ... Wait no that's not right.

Dom / Parent Figure: This doesn't have to be sexual, but he needs someone to sort out his shit. He is a little weasel and needs to be held accountable by someone. He wont do it himself so you're going to have to corner him.
Anything: As long as it fits him, Bastion is up for any plot that you might come up with, so don't hesitate to discuss ideas with me.
Crew-Members: While having an entire crew of NPCs is fun, sometimes nothing beats a chef that talks back.
Business: While his job is to be a mailman, Bastion often acts as a merchant / smuggler, bringing goods from one place to another to make a little extra income. (he does not trust that he will always have access to his families funds.) As such if you need something shipped he can do it. For a fee.Influence: Bastion is at a tipping point and can become a more mature and understanding individual... or become just as bad as the rest of his family. Meetings with others will shape him. Bastion is the Bastard Son between his Father, Lord Jasquer Maltro, and a hand maiden.
Lord Maltro had a common habit of bedding other women. In fact the ongoing joke about the man was he would sleep with anyone as long as they were not his wife, Lady Sarah Maltro. So it was not unusual when word got around that an another child had been born with the Lord as the father. What was unusual was that this time Jasquer acknowledged himself as Father and took the boy into his home, much to the displeasure of Lady Sarah and her 4 children.
And so it was that Bastion was raised in the way of nobility. Some may have considered him fortunate, others knew the truth. Bastion was loathed by Lady Sarah from the moment he entered her world, and it was HER world that he had stumbled into uninvited. The lady tortured the boy through out his childhood forcing him to be humiliated at parties by dressing him up in frilly gowns and making him curtsy on command. She had her children beat him senseless and play cruel pranks, the Lord never stepped in though, no matter what his wife did. Instead he simply preferred watching the havoc unfold with nothing but the hint of smile on his lips. (It was rumored as well, that the only reason he took in Bastion was to make his wife unhappy.)
When Bastion the Bastard Son came of an appropriate age he was given the task to deliver messages for the entire Maltro family. While his bothers and sisters took on more important roles he was given the duty of a mail man. The job typically had him deliver insults to other people of nobility who had somehow gained disfavor with someone else in the family. Lady Sarah actually congratulated him once for doing his job saying that "nothing was more perfectly demeaning than receiving a venomous letter that was delivered by the illegitimate child". But in a way Bastion didn't mind. The job while unpleasant and depressing, did get him away from the family that loathed him; and on a brighter note it had a few perks.
