  ~'':; A Brief History ;:''~
  
  Zahir was born to a long line of artisans, and from an early age was taught the artistic ways and methods of his people. As an Oazatl, Zahir is gifted with the ability to create stunning works of art, using his talons to draw and brushes made of his own hair to paint.
  
  He worked for many years in the human capitol, where he was an illuminator for the church of the goddess. He created stunning works, painting the books and writing out holy scriptures for all those to read and learn.
  
  He had a family there as well, and for twenty years, he and his husband and two adopted children lived in prosperity and beauty. Ten years of this passed without much of a problem; but then, war found its way to the capitol. The civil war, run and started by the Crystal Heart Revolutionaries, sacked and destroyed the church, proclaiming their god as true ruler of the people of the world.
  
  Zahir's family was slaughtered for their efforts of speaking out against them, and his punishment was to live his days without his gift. They excommunicated him from the church with a curse, killing his muse and banishing him to the slums of the city.
  
  There, he became bitter and withdrawn, slowly climbing the social ladder again to try and live a comfortable life as best he could. He works as a dancer and bard, singing the songs written by other people and dancing well known dances. He does so begrudgingly, as none of these arts are what he was born and raised to perform.
  
  He finds mild solace in purchasing and displaying valuable works of art-- particularly paintings and calligraphy, a way of lamenting what he has lost.

  Zahir appears to others, as fair and beautiful as an elf of the forests. However, his skin is much more pale, holding a somewhat off white tone with hints of grey. His eyes are a piercing blue and he seems to hold a dark scowl on his face when looking upon others. Only when he gazes at the works of art he so loves does his expression soften.
  
  His hair is white like his skin, but the tips are painstakingly dyed in the pigments of his choosing, those of clashing colors such as the pinks and blues he usually dons.
  The clothing about his body is loose fitting at the waist, usually skirts or types of Saris that flow easily when he walks and shows off a bit of skin. His tops are rather tight and form fitting-- not often does he wear things that completely cover him. In a way, it is perhaps a defiant way of speaking out against the new church, and the old and new gods that allowed these tragedies to transpire.
  
  Zahir wears varying sades of makeup upon his face, usually around his eyes to accent their glow. Rarely does he paint his lips or anything else, so as to keep himself ambiguous and not too much leaning towards the more feminine sex in appearance.

  Oazatls are free spirits, hailing from the southern jungles of Verushen. They have a unique ability to be able to change their immediate gender at will. They are born in to their own basic genders, male or female, but can change their reproductive organs if the mood strikes them. In times of plague or famine, this ability helps to keep their population replenished. Their gestation period is a year however, and their chances of pregnancy are low due to them being a long lived race.
  
  Zahir uses this ability on occasion when more revenue is needed to fund his way of life.
