• Description

  Before you stood a daunting figure. Long black hair flowed from his head before ending at his shoulders.With bronze skin and piercing blue eyes gleaming in their sockets Matthis was handsome no doubt. If the gleam in his optical orbs was malice or mischief was hard to tell however. His nose was short and his checkbones high denoting a noble birth. A smile would often overtake his mouth and the smell of wine and women followed him. He wore a black and orange tabbard over a chainmail shirt both of which have the same emblem on them.Well defined muscles filled out his upper body evident regardless of the armor he wore. Two large gauntlets cover his hands and shine with no signs of wear. An axe, of steel and oak handle, hung from his hip along with a simple brown coinpurse and flask,always full. He wore simple trousers that ran down into a pair of steel boots. He was tall and well built, an obvious fighter. He stood halfway between six and seven feet and carried himself with the drunken swagger and ego one could except from a sellsword with his abilities.

• Biography

  Matthis was born as a Lord's bastard to a serving girl in the small coastal kingdom of his youth. The lord took very little interest in Matthis as he was not the only bastard he had sired, often simply sending a man of his house to Matthis' mother every so often with some coin to serve to support the family.
  
  In his mother's household were two other children, ophans who served as help as a stableboy in the case of the older boy and and a serving girl in the case of a young orphan girl. The older boy picked on Matthis from his time as a babe into childhood. Once the older boy found Matthis playing with a small toy of his, a wooden dragon, and drowned him in the river by the inn they lived in. Matthis was found downstream and revived by a group of relgious zealots who took him in and converted him to their god. The zealots were involved in brigandry and often acted as highway men. Matthis grew skilled in archery and the use of the axe in the years he spent with the zealots.
  
  Finally at the age of twenty three after Matthis spent eight years with the worshipers (who were know as Followers of the Void) a group of knights, in the employ of his own Lord father, were the victims of an assault by the zealots. The knights killed most of his fellow zealots and Matthis was taken captive. When presented to his father Matthis was branded with the symbol for "Traitor" and was marked for execution. On the eve of the execution a small band of the Followers of the Void rescued him. Among them was the young orphan girl who Matthis had grown up with who had joined the zealots after hearing of Matthis' imprisonment. During the escape the orphan girl was killed by a trueborn son of Matthis' father. Matthis and his half brother engaged in single combat outside the castle gates with the result being Matthis removing his brother's hand with his mighty axe.
  
  Matthis was taken back to the zealot's camp and after much discussion told he could not stay with them after the maiming of the Lord's true son. Matthis found himself to be an exile and ran from the kingdom itself which was not without incident.
  On the run and a wanderer for the past two year, Matthis has sold his axe to small nobles and merchants in the best of times and slept under hedges and robbed in the worst.
  
  Matthis has currently settled in the city of Ravenhead. He encountered The Knight That Smiles and was inducted into The Knight's brotherhood, The Order of The Flash. While The Knight has since disappeared and left Matthis with a good deal of gold and much freetime, he spends most of it in the company of Allora, the city's baker.
