• The Basics

  Fur: His fur was short all over with the exception of a bit more in length on his chest and under the base of his tail. The top of his head was had no extra length, if anything looked slightly shorter. His fur was predominately a caramel brown coloring, with the exception of some ligonier tan in certain areas of his body. Starting from his neck all the way to the bottom of his feet were tan. As well as a few interesting markings like the one above his muzzle making two crescents over his eyes.
  
  Eyes: The otter's eyes would usually pull in any observer. They were as bright as the ocean on a crystal clear day, faint reflections on the eyes make it seem as they were even sparking as the ocean does.
  
  Chest: His chest was thick in fur compared to the rest of his body, covering the otters well built pectorals and ending just above his abs. Its coloring is completely tan with no unique markings.
  
  Arms: The arms were slender, but definitely toned. Two tan rings wrapped around his arms just below each shoulder as well as one more around his wrists.
  
  Tail: The tail was thick, the base being slightly thicker than his head! It didn't seem to have any special markings other than the slightly visible tan patch near his rump. In total the tail measured to be roughly 3.5 feet, over half the size of the otters entire body and weighed close to 45 lbs on its own.
  
  Clothes: The otter's wardrobe continues to change as he started to get paid by his employer:

  • Outfit 1:
    The most expensive clothing in his wardrobe, which is a brown robe collared with grey animal fur. Along it he has his a bag fastened around a leather belt holding it in place. with silver chain attached to the topside of the belt wrapped around his torso and over his shoulder to a grey stained leather strap attached to the belt underneath the purse. He rarely wears this outfit unless the temperature is below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
    
  • Outfit 2:
    In most cases, the otter is seen wearing just a pair of beige trousers and nothing else. This is otter's ideal choice of wear in most public areas.
    
  • Outfit 3:
    The otter was lucky in "finding" this outfit. It is an outfit designed for the most skilled rouges, assisting them disappearing into the background with it's unique design. Being a deeply darkened brown, almost mistakenly black, with a slightly lighter chocolate brown marking, and completely made from a lightweight cloth, this allows the otter to hid in the most open areas and move with ease without usually being seen. He would only wear this outfit with its hood up if he has a goal in mind or doing a job. It would be a rare occurrence to catch Nyokio in this attire.
    
  • Outfit 4:
    Nothing, the otter enjoys most desired outfit is to be nude. He enjoys the lack of restriction that it provides him. He is rarely seen in public like this, but is not ashamed by it. Most would catch him lacking any attire while he were nearby the suite he has been staying in.

  
  Possessions: The otter is usual carrying an burnt umber leather backed book which holds his notes in learning to write the common language. The book has a golden tassel dangling from beneath it with a small jar of black ink tied to it's end. **Currently does not have his book**
  
  Personality: While he may be a warrior from his tribe, he sure as hell doesn't usually act like one. The otter is actually quite docile, unless he is provoked or being challenged by another. He is a quirky individual, and tends to be pretty energetic when around others. when in a good mood. Always curious when he sees something new and upfront when it comes to his curiosity, not in the slightest feeling embarrassed by his yearn for knowledge. But, a threatened otter changes everything, his senses sharpen and his body will usually lower into a defensive stance. He will speak little and becomes stubborn with his attitude. It is usually pretty tough to convince the otter to lower his guard and accept you after he feels threatened.

    Very aware of his surroundings, sharp reflexes, and pinpoint accuracy giving him the ability to take down mighty beasts even with his slender body. Gained from his experience in hunting with his fellow Tai'lin.

    Stealthy and able to track for long distances. Gained from his experience in hunting with his fellow Tai'lin.
  • Seasoned Combatant
    Due to his training with the Tai'lin, he has an above average skill with combat.

    Ability to survive some of the harshest conditions with his knowledge of the environment. Less effective in Tundra climates.

    While unable to breath underwater, he is conditioned to stay submerged and dive deep below the surface longer than the average being.

• Weaknesses

  • Meagerly Built
    **Depending on other species**By in no means is the otter weak, he is still a smaller creature compared to most others. This makes him highly susceptible to large amounts of damage from heavier built or larger individuals, even to the point where he could become knocked out in a single blow. Knowing this the otter will use his dexterity to counter it.
    
  • Curiousity
    Due to his life away from the mainland, he has only some knowledge of the advancements throughout the world. And because of his eagerness to learn he can be be manipulated to go into an unwanted direction willingly with the right amount of Charisma. He is easily distracted with things he has never seen before.
    
  • Coldness
    While being weak to all types of spells, he is particularly weak to any coldness. Being from a island that never had a winter, and his short fur not providing an adequate amount of warmth for a tundra like climate.
    
  • His Tail
    A smaller creature with a thick appendage over half of his height that instinctively moves on its own behind him. While it's not necessarily a weak spot on the otter, a good grasp on the tail could prevent him from being using his agility to it's full potential. He will usually try to keep it tucked close to his body, but there are always openings he will be unaware of.
    
  • Magically Inept
    Showing no sign of magical abilities. There may be some potential in the future, at this moment in time he has very little understanding of mystical powers which also make him extremely vulnerable to spells of all kinds.

• Before the Voyage

  Not everyone has the time to read an entire backstory, so here are so points that are crucial to Nyokio's character:

  • He was trained to be a hunter since he began to walk.
  • His island is extremely behind when it comes to technological advancements, making so even a spoon would be new for the otter when he arrived.
  • He was the top of his age group with his skills in survival, hunting, and endurance.
  • His first mentor was killed by his second, who happens to be the head of the warriors in his village called the Tai'lin.
  • After many years of being under the second mentor, he became a specialized warrior of the village, but due to his first mentor's death, he fled the island on a small boat making him an outcast to the island.

  Born and raised without wealth, all this otter knew was family and community since the day he was born. He is known as a Aqiken, a native born on a diminutive uncharted island his people called Isla de Mona, located roughly 300 miles south east of Kasuria. They were unfamiliar with the outside world as they stayed close together forming one working machine together for many generations. Each Aqiken had their own duties assigned to them based on a physical trial they must undertake at the age of 10.
  
  From birth, the Aqiken cubs are placed into the community pit, which is where the community help the newly born cubs survive and learn basic cognitive skills. The cubs do not stay with their birth mothers, but have assigned mentors based on the Elder's observations of the cub's value to the community as soon as they take their first steps. The average age for an Aqiken cub to walk is between 8 months to a year. Nyokio, did not begin walking until he was near two years old, which in the eyes of the Elder's means he was never going to amount to much worth for the community. So, the Elder's assigned Nyo the mentor Ralkin del Toro, who was an outcast of the village for the crime of exploring beyond the reef.
  
  Ralkin may have been an outcast, but because of this he had much to teach about survival. He lived alone in the outskirts of the island, miles away from the village, to prevent any unwanted interactions. As an outcast, it was against the law to speak with anyone from the village unless they are required to mentor. If the outcast is a mentor, they may speak to another mentor, the elders, or their cub. Speaking to any other Aqiken is punishable by death and Ralkin was not one to take chances.
  
  Years passed as Nyokio was undergoing Ralkin's training. By Age 4 the otter had already learned to swim, by 5 he had mastered the technique of deep sea diving and caught his first fish, by 7 he had learned to hunt feral land animals and began fashioning his own weapons, and by 9 he could survive over a month on his own in the wilderness. By the time the otter was 10, he was ready to compete in the Aqiken trials and find his place in the community.
  
  When the day came, Nyokio looked around at his once fellow cubs ready to undertake the trials. Out of all of them, only 3 looked as physically inclined as he was and a majority of them were beyond frightened. The three rounds in the trial consisted of physical aptitude, hunting, and combat. Nyokio was the top of his Goridian group for the first two trials, with no one coming close to his 36 catches in the hunting grounds except for one reaching 32. He only had one more round left, then he would be hopefully obtain the duty of Tai'lin in the village, otherwise known as the best hunters of the village. The final round was hand-on-hand combat, which Nyo knew he had in the bag. It was a tiered event and the winner has a say in what their duty will be. The first 3 matches went by with a breeze, putting Nyokio in the semi finals.

  

  His competition was a muscular black, silk furred wolf with golden eyes called Tol'kin Rah who seemed uneasy from Nyokio's progress. The wolf was mentored by the great Tai'lin leader Giriath the Unbreakable Wolf, the otter knew this would most likely be his first real challenge. The round began with the usual call from the Elders in a deep bellowed "Begin!" The wolf did not hesitate, thrashing out his claws one by one toward Nyo's face, the first one nicking the otter slight and drawing blood. The wolf was strong, one blow could easily wipe out the otter, but he was also slow. The otter took a step back with every swipe, observing learning the pattern of the wolf's agression. With a swift dodge he ducked under a right swipe and jabbed his opponent's side. As he watched his opponent recollect himself, he noticed a change in expression, uncontrollable anger. He dodged another swipe and then suddenly Nyo felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. Looking down the wolf had a spearhead tied to his knee that was deep in the otter's gut.
  
  The wolf grabbed onto Nyo's shoulders and began rapidly stabbing into the otter's stomach in what seemed like an eternity. Nyo shouted in pain, and could hear the chatters among the audience, but no one put a stop to it. It wasn't long until Nyo could hear a familiar voice, "Get your filthy mutts off him you entitled bastard!" The fight abruptly ended as a fist nailed the wolf in the side of the jaw. Ralkin scooped up his student without a word and left the trial grounds.
  
  Everything was fuzzy for the otter, up until he woke in his bed and saw a worried stag sitting next to him. Ralkin smiled to the sight, pulling Nyo into a hug. Without a word, his mentor stood and walked out of the hut. Nyo clenched his healing wounds, slowly pulling himself from the bed and staggering to the door. The otter could feel his wound opening as he took his steps, his senses blurring as his body aches from the pain as he could hear some sort of commotion coming from outside his little hut. unable to make it out he pulled back the vines dangling from the entryway only to see a body.... It was without a doubt Ralkin's body, with a familiar black figure standing above him holding a severed head. IT was the he was Tai'lin Giraith and his smirking cub arrogantly crossing his arms behind him. The Tai'lin did not hesitate to drop the head as the otter came from within the hut, but his posture remained as proud as always. "My apologies my boy, but your mentor broke the sacred laws of our land by speaking to my cub." He held out a paw to the otter, "Lucky for you, you have skill. I'll be watching you from now on." Nyo was frozen in place, unable to process the events that just unfolded, his eyes not leaving Ralkin's body. He dropped to his knees, tears running down his face as he mourned for his mentor. "Oh come on, hunters don't cry boy." The wolf continued to grin, and lifted Nyo from the ground, forcing him away from the scene.
  
  
  Another 13 years passed in that village and Nyokio was what he had always wanted to be, a Tai'lin. He was well respected by the community and proved his worth to his peers, but he was left awake with the nightmares of his lost guardian. He needed a change, he hated his superior and the elders for what they had done, but could not bring himself to harm them as they are necessary for the village's survival. So, he left.
  
  On a small fishing boat during a hunting trip, he set sail to a far and foreign world.
