• The Beginning

  Having come from a military minded family the boy that was Nero was admitted into the Roman military at a very young age in comparison to most. Not even yet considered a man at the age of fifteen and yet he stood shoulder to shoulder with other recruits in attempt to find purpose in life. Having no sort of real parental influence at home so he attached himself to those who would command him and taught him the ways of war. Throwing himself in full into the confines of what he was to become it didn't take him long to rise to a full ranked solider within the Legion.
  
  Long hours of drill and study would sharpen both his mind and his body, allowing that frame of his to fill out to a venerable size that dwarfed most others. Naturally a big man he was apart of the shield phalanx within every skirmish or engagement; which combined with the name that was behind him caused him to rise through the ranks of the Legion swiftly. By the age of twenty-two he was at the lead of a cohort of his own. By thirty he was a career solider and at the head of the first cohort of the first legion, taking the position of Ceaser's Honor Guard to be quite personal. Perfection was what he strove for.

• The Change

  A simple mission they said, route some savages that had invaded a mountain pass. It would be nothing for the first Century of the Roman Legion, it was a blood bath. We marched into that mountain pass with bravado and courage of any hot-blooded Roman Legionnaire but that didn't last long when we started to see the bones and carrion that had been left out. We assumed cannibals or some sort of savage tribe come down from the North, never could we have been more wrong. Dozens of them came down out of the pass, running on all fours like wild beasts. The phalanx did nothing to stop them, they rent shields and armor just like it was rice-paper, blades did not seem to harm them.
  
  It was over so quickly, with nothing left. I was surrounded and the biggest damn wolf I had ever seen was in a circle with me. They looked so strange, like something out of a nightmare. It came at me, my gladius was gone, my shield was gone. I was armed with only a blade a simple silver knife that was a symbol of my position of Centurion. It came at me and I slashed at it, we fell to the ground and I felt my own blood pooling beneath me. Sharp claws, sharp teeth, gnashing and biting, rending and tearing. Pain, unbearable pain. Then silence, the wolf, the creature the thing had gone limp against me. The blade was buried beneath the ribs of the creature and most of my hand was covered in ichor and gore. The creature was dead and I was dying. Blackness surrounded me, the others swarmed me. I must of been dead.

  More vampires, perhaps he should of given her more respect. She knew him in the old days, days that were barely a haze of a dream. Still she offended him, mouthy little whore. So I used her one, left her filled up like a used condom. This could be fun.

  A strange creature, one that had caught me in near passing at the Winter Ball. Still there was a few moments when I felt more like kin to her than any other creature in the place. A monster like me.
