• Description

  Vidane is a Kordin wanderer, a rarity among his people. Whether he does it for his own reasons, or for an exile, or simple dislike from his people, he's still a traveler. Known more commonly as The Winged Explorer, the warrior strikes an odd appearance as he traverses the land. A slim, towering man, possessing massive wings and hair down to his back, he is not a common sight. His facial features are not all that terribly attractive either, his face human enough, though his nose is large, and his ears pointed, like those of an elf. Wearing nothing but a small vest that barely covers his shoulders and a pair of cotton pants, he doesn't fit into the standards of decency as set down by most people. But that's the way things are when you are of an uncommon race, rare among most people.
  
  
  
  The Kordin as a people are incredibly rare. There aren't much more than a couple thousand left, and they are all located in one place. The race is a dying one, and there is no way to create their people except with another of their race. As such, things are complicated for them. To survive they must mate with their own, so they are somewhat xenophobic. Yet very few Kordin ever truly marry. Being long-lived, the ideal of marriage means loyalty forever. They do not have a concept of divorce. If you marry in Kordin society, you may be spending over a thousand years with just one person. It is the ultimate show of love, and never taken lightly by their people.
  
  
  
  Vidane is an atypical Kordin, who does not seem to stick to tradition. His aimless wandering, for one, is not like the settled natures of his people. Nor is his affection for other races. He will credit it to his wandering ways, but it is simply an aspect of the man.

• Biography

  Many eons before the birth of humanity, there walked a race across the land that spoke of an almighty power. They had the wings of angels, the ears of the elves, the face of trolls, and the bodies of mankind's future. They were known as the Kordin, sons and daughters of the angels who had fallen from the grace of the Creators.
  
  In the time before humanity, the Creators sent their angels to do their work upon the world, singing the praise of their masters throughout the earth. But there were some scarce few angels, those few who did not desire to praise the gods and all their works. They did not love the children of the earth, nor did they wish to protect them. These scarce few rebelled against their gods, and fell to the earth, stripped of their wings. But not before they had stolen the power of creation for themselves. To spite their masters, they made a being with all the powers of an angel, the grace of an elf, the strength of a troll, and the cunning of a man. They named them "Kordin", meaning "Child of Us".
  
  The Creators saw these beings as abominations, and sent their angels to destroy the Kordin. But this new race was brave and fierce, and they fought alongside their creators in defense of their own lives. Alone, the fallen angels stood no chance. But with their creation at their side, they were a formidable foe. A battle raged on for hundreds of years, with neither side claiming victory. Angels fell from the sky as the Kordin died on the cold earth. As the Creators made more angels to throw at the rebels, so did the fallen create more Kordin to defend themselves. Blood was spilled, and the skies turned black with the bodies of the warriors, earth red with their blood. Yet still neither could gain victory.
  
  It was then that he was born, the hero of the Kordin. His name was Dirka, pride of his creators. He bore a sword of pure flame, his shield made from the earth's core, armor that shone brighter than even that of the angels. In his hands, he could summon the powers of flame and darkness, and with his strength he could smite a dozen angels in one blow. He was their ultimate Champion, and none could stand in his way.
  
  The Creators did not approve of this creation, and they banded together to mold a hero out of their breath, who would smite the Kordin and their masters once and for all. He was formed the greatest of all angels, and his name was Samell. His skin was covered in the marks of his lords, and his eyes burned with their mighty flame. He stood upon the mountaintop, and smote a great many Kordin with the sweep of his blade. His sword was forged of pure lightning, and he struck down all those who opposed him. It was then that he cried out a challenge to the mighty Dirka, calling him the the mountaintop to fight for the victory of his people. And Dirka answered.
  
  Climbing to the mountaintop, he stood to face his foe. Champion to Champion, warrior to warrior. When they clashed, the earth shook under their feet, and the world knew of their power. Blade to blade, shield to shield, yet neither could pry victory from the other. As the battle raged around them, they fought for the end of this war. It was then that Samell, frustration building in him, called to his masters to grant him greater powers. They answered, sending his strength to him in a beam of light. And as Samell stood to receive this power, Dirka struck, cleaving his head from his shoulders. And Samell fell.
  
  Victorious over even the greatest of angels, Dirka led his people into battle. The Kordin began to turn the tide against their enemy. Slowly the angels were beat back, until they found themselves fighting at the very gates of the heavens. It was then that the leader of the angels laid down his blade before Dirka, and refused to fight anymore. His army knelt before the Kordin, admitting their defeat at the hand of these fierce warriors. And so the Kordin won their victory, to the resentment of the Creators. They were free to wander the earth, but they would have no gods to pray to, and no one to aide them in times of need. They would stand alone.
  
  Thus were the Kordin created, and given life upon this world.
