  In the back of the priory, bricks sat on bricks, bound by mortar. One day, as the sun broke the sky, a single stone felt the light for the first time. It began to struggle, wriggling further, letting more and more of himself worm into the warm glow. Soon, it covered him, and he was free. Free to fall, as he plummeted down the wall. Whistling through the air, it pondered its sad state. His brothers and sisters, held fast in their places, were not there to answer. Behind him, the tower loomed over him, standing still and strong. Pity the rolling stone, as the ground rushed up to meet it, for it knew now the terrors of freedom.
