  Laestre is petite and lean, with small breasts, long limbs and slender thighs. She has silky, smoky silver fur lashed by the occasional black blotch or stripe, and hair of a vibrant burnt auburn that frames her face with its attempted curls and is cut short and choppy in the back. Her large eyes are imposing and vividly ice-blue, almost white, and she tends to carry or wear a pair of reading glasses as her vision isn't exactly the best. Her large leathery ears, though, are as keen as any dragon's breath is hot, and she has them decorated with a few earrings. She has two rods through the bridge of her muzzle, and no tattoos or any markings of the sort. Her hands have long fingers tipped in pointed claws, though her feet are pretty tiny to match her frame. She is typically wearing specially-tailored clothing, usually a form of dress, with slits in the side to allow the the connective membrane to bridge naturally between her wrist and body. Her favorite dress is of a champagne-cream satin with a corset-like bodice, extending to mid-thigh and paired with a set of heels the same color that boost her up a couple inches to an average height. Typically the only jewelry she wears is a simple gold arm cuff, a gold-chain anklet and that indomitable gold-plated collar.

• Biography

  At first, like all young slaves born free, Laestre was mouthy and violent, demanding and high-maintenance. This changed, however, when she was taken out by a very particular and very unstable handler who gave her the first taste of what a Hell could be like. She was abused in every manner and he refused to buy her, but gave her one reprieve when she was with him: she could drink as freely as she desired. Laestre developed a taste for blood-rum, a mix of spiced rum and fresh blood from any willing (or unwillingly) creature. In her drunken stupor she learned to dance for him and can often still be caught dancing with herself in private when particularly inebriated.
  
  After a while she noticed that his visits were less and less. Other Masters stayed away from her for fear of him, assuming he had some sort of ownership of her due to the gold-plated collar around her neck, so the bat began to spend more time in the slave pens. Disheveled and reeling from alchoholism, she began to look for a chance of escape. Eventually, just as she was about to give up hope, a rare sympathetic handler offered her a job. He had no one willing or able to deliver messages by night to his associates around the islands nearby, partly due to the distance, partly due to the nature of their business: opium smuggling. Taxes - and the overbearing thugs who collected those taxes and frequently threatened him, he explained - we killing his business, and he needed an untraceable method of communication.
  
  From there, Laestre went on to successfully earn her freedom although the plated collar she wears still stands. It had no clasp as it was soldered shut in anticipation of lifelong servitude, and would be dangerous to remove. Instead of shunning slavery and servitude, as if it were someday going to be abolished, she instead directed her efforts and small fortune toward training them. Of course, from time to time she may take advantage of her position, as everyone is prone to mood swings, but she is well aware that a properly broken slave and properly trained servant fares much better in the world than one who isn't.
