A Princess Born

  • The Start

    The only child of the late Duke Oslow and the ailing Duchess Margaret, Snow didn't have much time to enjoy the company of her parents. Both had fallen mysteriously ill when she was but a lamb, leaving the girl to inherit the entire northern province. Being too young, advisers to the Duke stepped in and began to rule in her stead, leaving Snow to her own devices. In this time period, Snow played by herself often. She was often cut off from socializing with others in order to keep her safe. Loneliness certainly does affect the mind after a while. With no one to learn from and everything given to her, the sheep became narcissistic and immature as she grew older. She was never taught how to rule and never had a desire to be taught, leaving all decision-making to her advisers, who raised taxes, ignored the cries of the people, and also lived a life of splendor.

    When Snow finally came of age to be called Duchess of her province, her subjects had hoped that she might bring change with it, that all those years of seclusion would have only brought out the best in the lamb. It did not, and the female continued to let her advisers make the decisions while she focused foremost on herself, often reclining back in her throne after meals if only to stare at her beautiful self in the mirror she held.

    Perhaps, behind the scenes, this was all meant to be. Had Snow's parents lived to a ripe old age, maybe the heiress to the throne would have been more modest and willing to listen to the pleas of her people. As it stood, she was merely a royal image to be shown off like a trophy, and she content to play the part.
