• A bit of World Info

  While Moonwalker can be played in just about any Post Apocalyptic setting (and many SciFi ones)this is her default world. In other words if this world doesn't interest you ask I'll probably be willing to work in whatever world you normally play in.
  

  Background

  
  There is a great debate over how exactly the world came to be the way it is. Some blame a war that caused fire to scorch its surface, burning forests and making the world so hot that the abundance of water the planet once held died up. Others claim still that it wasn't a war but rather human greed. The desire to harvest every resource so that their competitors couldn't take it from them and their race would survive. A few even claim that God saw how his beloved creations were behaving and turned his back on them, leaving their world to slowly die. Whatever the reason Earth was now little more than a barren desert with a few puddles of water and a couple patches of trees.
  
  

  Classes

  
  Those who could afford to leave the once blue planet did so. Since Earth doesn't have communication with those who left no one is quiet certain what happened to them. They could have settled a new world or been annihilated by an alien race. Since they up and abandoned Earth most people don't give them much of a thought.
  
  Those who couldn't leave but still had more money then the masses built large nearly self reliant compounds and placed themselves in the position of rulers in these places. While fair enough to those within their walls they gave little thought to those who existed outside of it...
  
  Much of the world's population exists outside of the relative safety of the compounds in what is referred to as "The Wastes". There is little food or water and people typically live by the rule of survival of the fittest. Money and family are the only two things that the general person values. Morality is simply a fancy word used by people who haven't had to fight since birth for survival.
  
  

  Current State of Affairs

  
  In the last few years the already low water supplies began to dwindle down to near nothing...or at least it did in the Wastes. In the compounds water supplies began to swell. Suspicious of the sudden increase in their water supply the people of the Wastes began to look send people to look for reasons why wells that had been full for generations suddenly dried up. One one such mission they found that the source of the well water was being drawn into the compounds by large pipes. Angered by this they began to riot against the compounds. They sabotaged their trade routes and held travelers for ransom. They also began to damage water lines to get water out of them.
  
  Feeling all of this was unjustified the compound leaders tried to stop the attacks by sending out soldiers, however the soldiers were quickly overwhelmed. After living in the rather cushy compound they found it hard to be in an area where water and food where hard to find. Many died due to starvation and dehydration...which left their equipment free for scavengers (much like Moonwalker) to find and use.

  • "Names" in the waste are more like occupational titles. In example you can bet someone named Facesmasher is probably a mercenary who likes smashing faces in.
    
  • Everyone in the wastes does have a True Name, a name given by their parents at their birth, but these names are incredibly private. Giving someone your True Name is a very intimate thing...as a result people from the Waste get rather uncomfortable when someone gives them their True Name when they first meet.
    
  • Money in the wastes is normally small coins from compounds. IE if the smallest coin in the compounds was a little piece of iron worth 1/3rd of a penny it would be the only currency in the wastes (of course there's always bartering but doing that normally leaves someone shafted). So someone with three hundred of that little coin would be rich in the Wastes but only have about a dollar in the Compounds.
    
  • Water is very hard to find and most of the food is dried, tasteless, and so hard it's barely edible. Oil, gas, ammo, etc is equally hard to find. Pretty much the only thing not difficult to find is sun and dirt.
    
  • This doesn't have much to do with the world but Moonwalker got her name because she travels nearly exclusively at night.
