[This is kind of the short/rushed version that I wanted to get out before doing anything with her. It still needs A LOT of tweaks and possibly a lot of fixes with the flow and awkward sentences, but she is a character that has a lot going on with her, eleven years worth, and has a massive back-story with adventures and troubles. There is a lot that needs to be done and said. But alas, I cannot put it all down, and I am sure that it would be boring to read. Check the journals I make because bits and small pieces of her story appear there when I come around to writing them! Some will be important and some for fun!]
Despite how she is now, she did have a healthy life as you can ever have in a 'survival of the fittest' sort of world where death, murder, slaves, and all kinds of dark horrors we would think was an everyday occurrence and normalcy. Being a revenant, she can cannibalize, something she does only every once in a while, mind you, but only when she feels like it, and no one would stop her, not that they could. But they won't spare her with odd or angry looks from time to time. So the dead coming back to life was almost normal now as it is everything else. It's pretty much a messed up world.
Four kingdoms fought against each other to claim the land for their own and get rid of the weaker, a struggle for dominance one would say. Still, none of them ever gained the upper hand, and it has been an ongoing stalemate ever since they all came to power after getting rid of any other competition besides themselves. Two of the factions argued but managed to put up a small alliance just to see if teaming up on the other could reduce the number of wars that broke out and continue to cause so many needless deaths.
A human cleric and an elven archmage eventually met at the beginning of this new tag-team war on different kingdoms, and all things fell in love. Is it kind of cliché. Finally, one joined the other to make it less troublesome so they can raise a child if time called for it. And it did happen as predictable as it was. Waiting for the inevitable was not going to happen, so they weren't going to wait.
Even though the other kingdoms planned against each other, it did little as the opposing kingdoms always caught the wind of what they were doing and joined up together as well. Nothing seemed to get done. During the wars, Leth grew up as a half-human and elf, an outsider by all rights since she wasn't pureblood, but that didn't matter. She could care less and less as the years went on. In schooling, there were no books or scrolls for her to read since the magic arts never really came to her much to her father's surprise (and despair), so she did not bother with it and instead focused on something in the sneaky approach, at first. Growing up with wars and possible death at every turn, she had to protect herself, even if it meant hiding.
Training to be an assassin was not an easy task.
It only lasted for a couple of years through till her mentors gave up on her, saying she could not be stealthy to save her life. She continued, though, huffing and waving her hand off dismissively when her teachers lectured her with a scowl for failing time after time. When tests came around, she would prove them wrong out of boredom and spite, but it's just that she had trouble concentrating on it. Both her parents chastise her for it all the time, but eventually, it was dropped when she does prove that she can do it if she tries.
Moving on from assassinating, she wanted to broaden her learning and learn away from the shadows as she got older.
Through her teen life, which lasted for a long time much to her displeasure, she started to train as a monk because she was fascinated on how to redirect enemy attacks with a simple swipe of the hand, using their opponent's momentum against themselves, their power, and their way of life. It was more than just a quick stab in the back or slice across the neck for some and more personal. It was also therapeutic for her, and meditating became a second habit besides sleeping. But in her off time, she spent non-stop hours on her assassin techniques anyway that she learned back in her younger days just to make sure she wouldn't lose it. The combo knowledge of being assassin and monk pulled her to the front of her classes as she wanted to make her parents proud despite how she scoffed it off often.
Though they supported her, they genuinely wanted her to focus on arcane and element arts because magic was active in their blood.
They hoped Leth would be stable in the magical aspect because of it, but they eventually came to terms that it might be a long while, or never, and they were very proud of their daughter anyway for accomplishing what they couldn't do. Then there was a time that the wars got more violent and expansive towards villages that just wanted to be left alone. It was getting worse, and while her parents would have liked Leth not to worry about it, she did.
Eventually, Leth joined the faction's army where the grueling fights and harshness were soon realized as a fact; every person was for themselves. How life became sustained so far was questioned. How could anyone live off this? It didn't matter then, and it still didn't matter now. She met her first friend Shade, who was a magic caster, a horrible one in the healing arts, which he was oddly assigned to. Their friendship bloomed when Leth ignored his antics but got in trouble with the higher ranks, but then Shade got her out of it somehow to make up for his behavior.
It was never the same again after that.
There was little honor, and those who had it were laughed, put down, or killed for it. She had it, but it was hidden to keep everyone off her back. Let's say she grew in ranks only because of her skill all the way up to General, right underneath Commander despite what most people thought could happen. The wars she fought were troublesome at best since it always turned into a stalemate, and it sucked away her patience of just wanting to be done with it. But unfortunately for everyone, it didn't end, and the years continued with the constant fighting until one of those fateful wars that her friend got fatally wounded.
She never thought it would be possible, never thought it could happen. Side by side, together, it was impossible to defeat them. Her rampage after was savage, feral, and filled with so much hate for the wars, the kingdoms, and moral stupidity that it wrought it made her go into a frenzy. Banners shook, and the land itself silenced for the first time in many centuries. It made the other army back off for a while before contemplating on what they should do next with their own agendas in mind. Bodies were littered everywhere, and as far as one can see and she was drenched in blood stood in the middle of it, shaking violently. Even the army she was sided on stepped very lightly and not uttered a single word amongst themselves of the aftermath.
Her grief was bittersweet because earlier before this other war had started...her father died as well of natural causes. With two blows to her unstable mind, she cried out in anguish and unbearable pain, cursing everything to the heavens above her head, wishing her friend was back in her hopelessness and vulnerability. Everything else was ignored at that point. Despite her cries, she wasn't expecting a clear answer. It was sly, low, a dark whisper of smoke curling near her ear, telling her that it will bring back her friend. For a price, of course, nothing good was free. Blinded by grief and anger, she did not care what the cost was, and that was her biggest mistake in her life as it bound something with her soul that would forever doom her. As soon as she said yes, the entire land exploded with darkness.
She was killed immediately and was brought back as something else, arguably someone else.
With her transformation to a revenant was complete and unbeknownst to her, a darker plan that was set in motion. She and Shade were alive once more but nothing how they used to be. Their army feared them for a long time knowing it wasn't natural, everything that happened wasn't nature, how they were brought back, and it was worse for the opposing side. However, once it was over, they did not care and were glad to be together again and causing trouble in their way. One day while out on a mission, they managed to run into and get captured, much to Leth's annoyance, by a half-elf warrior named Kain and elven shaman Pheonix (her name is supposed to be spelled wrong). To anyone's and everyone's surprise, they all became friends with the later addition of Pyro, a high-elf fire-mage.
And in their own right, they became a group and force to reckon with alone.
Eventually, they broke away from their respective kingdoms and decided to make their own, one without fighting unless it was necessary and try to promote a kind of peace this world has never had. Those that got in their way were dealt with more or less, but they extended a hand and offered those who wanted a way out. There would still be fighting but in controlled areas and such. Just not by death unless those who wish to die with some glory can kill with their consent. The group did not believe holding those against their will unless the person wants it for some weird reason, but they understand some things at least for those who were raised with it.
A year later, after the new kingdom was formed, a living plague spread among the revenants and undeath, often turning them into a mutated twisted monster, often destroying villages with shallow graves or those who were brought back already. It was hard to watch a loved one come back, turn into a nightmare, and get put down again. It became a problem quickly, and the kingdoms scrambled to take care of it. Since Leth and Shade were quite different than regular revenants, Shade managed to escape it, and Leth was able to resist turning, but the plague-infected her body somehow despite it. She was not wholly impervious. It left her with two bone-like protrusions on her back that is alive than the rest of her, making her feel where it has managed to spread. Often an annoyance for her, she would instead feel numb and pressure than actual pain in its place.
She was thankful for it only doing that, at least.
More years passed, and they became undeniable leaders that the other kingdoms would fear and recognize...until Leth's...problem started to come to fruition...
Death turned so much worse when Bethial took Leth over as planned, and no one was safe. This was what was in store for her all along, some kind of vessel for a monster that did nothing but destroy everything in its path. It was ongoing for so many years. She knew something terrible was going to happen, ignored it for the most part, and held a constant will to keep it in its place for as long as she can. But she was weakening, and she knew she needed help, badly. Her friends tried to help her, but it was too little too late. One day Leth became unable to push back whatever that was within her and went on to destroy everything or as much as it can. Bethial, she found out, is what it was called, and it cared little about anything and everything. It wanted everything to blur into the realm of the Void.
Too many died that day, and it still haunts her now. Cities were toppled, though, villages were wiped off from the land in one sweep that it made the wars look like a good thing. The area was painted red, whether it was fires or lakes of blood and bone. The group persisted, though, and helped Leth overcome Bethial, finally ridding its thoughts within her. She was tortured by mind and body because of it, the never-ending guilt and regret will be with her till the bitter end. Never was a time where she wanted to die so badly, but was denied due to stubborn friends. It all spanned at least through a century before it was finally over, that is until Bethial warped Leth into another dimension after its last stand.
Though she has no clue where she is, she eventually crosses through them regularly and helps out the worlds, universes in need no matter what, sacrificing herself bit by bit in every reality in hopes she can make up for what she has done in her own. She doesn't make any new friends after that, keeping to herself and severely closed off. As she goes killing herself, at one point a divine from the realm, she was saving intervened to keep Leth alive and blessed her as she left. Her soul is tattered, broken in a slew of colors from other powers from other worlds keeping her alive in vain, and mostly intact. Though what she has been through, she hopes her end that her friend promised her would be satisfying.
Until she gets back home, she continues traveling with a heavy mind and shoulders...

In an alternate universe of her story that has her being able to live...
Valek pushes her too far where she loses control, but also unlocks the parts of her soul that she hid away. The combination is her downfall as the raw power takes her over completely. Realizing its mistake, a little too late when she does not hold back anymore, Voriel confronts Valek, and together they try to subdue her before she destroys everything, them, and their realm.
They get overwhelmed.
In their retreat, they require stronger help and put a brief truce between them and Leth's forever friends and lovers. Leth's destructive rampage ravages multiple universes and collapsing realities before they find her and bring her back to the void where they hope they can fight her off in a place that can contain some of the output of power. Valek and Voriel then realize that because Leth does not accept the void energy, it has become unstable. Rejecting and not controlling this energy has made it poisonous and unable to be released properly to avoid an excess build-up.
Also, because Leth does not have the innate knowledge on how to control her power like daemons are created can, she does not have the ability to. However, Valek and Voriel struggle even to share that knowledge to help her without getting battered. Leth's friends are also wounded, one majorly injured during the fight, but eventually, Valek and Voriel desperately manage to hold her long enough to share the knowledge and help disperse the toxic energy within the void that is contained within her.
A long weary battle it is, it is not until Leth accepts what she is now that the core of her energy becomes stable. She goes unconscious for a year after the long ordeal and is sent back to another universe to recover regardless of the disagreement from Leth's lovers. Valek and Voriel understand that Leth would react negatively if she is still unable to get over her guilt if she appeared home too soon or wakes up to the void. However, they said they would keep an eye on her until she awakes. Due to the trauma, Leth appears to suffer from amnesia upon waking up of her past life. She is aware she is different as time passes, but the eventual awakening of her old memories is what the daemons are pushing for...no matter what.
This does impact her mentally, though. Without her past memories, she is more relaxed and finds it easier to enjoy the little things. There's a sense of overwhelming guilt that lingers, but she does not know the reason why, but helping others tend to ease it somewhat. However, her morals are skewed even worse in the sense that she accepts the daemon way of handling reasoning now. She does not see violence as only necessary to stop a situation but the only way, gory and unrestrained than before. Her combat also suffers from this as well. Without all the combat training and experiences, she is reduced to and relies heavily on her daemon reckless ferocity and instinct to attack and defend herself.
She does have multiple alternate timelines that include her living, but not exactly with the best intentions. One is that she loses the fight to Bethial, and her friends have to fight against her, killing her to set her free from destroying all realities. One timeline that has her winning the fight against Bethial but succumbing to the instability of chaos daemon energy and she dies. And one time she wins against Bethial and accepts the daemon energy, but turns chaotic evil in the process to claim every reality for the daemons as its ruler.)
