  Shatara was the youngest of four children. She had a sister named Nya, and two brothers named Kuro and Lee. Shatara’s mother and father, Sharana and Gaia, were the queen and king of Kotorine and Rianal. Shatara and her family were a race called Sonoi. Shatara was the last “pure blood” Kanrae Sonoi. How strong a Sonoi was depended on their wing color, brown wings were the weakest and black wings were the strongest. Shatara was the first female Sonoi to have black wings. The demons that knew about the Sonoi were divided into two groups. There were those that helped the Sonoi and then there were those who hated the Sonoi and wanted to kill them. 100 years before Shatara was born, the demons that hated the Sonoi attacked. The protector of the Sonoi city, Zeara was strong and fought against them, but because she herself had fallen in love with a demon, her powers were weekend and she was killed. Because Zeara was killed by a demon and not a Sonoi, her soul lived on. The demon that had fallen in love with Zeara and his son, Konu, put the soul into the infant Shatara. Konu was told that he would need to stay by Shatara’s side forever and make sure that Zeara did not kill Shatara’s soul and take over. Konu’s father died shortly after telling him this. Konu stayed by Shatara’s side as she grew up and watched over her and protected her. At the age of 3, Shatara was in her first war. She never fought up close on the battle against the demons though. She was in a safe place where none of the demons could see her. She and her sister Nya used magic to kill the enemy demons. Shatara was the top killer in that battle. Her next war was fought at the age of 11 another army of demons attacked. Shatara again fought in this war, but she was on the front lines. Again, she killed the most in this war as well. The Sonoi lost the last battle. Their city, Kotorine, was destroyed and so, they had to leave. They went to one of their other cities, Rianal. That became their capital. When Shatara, her mother, and her sister were sailing to Rianal, a group of demons attacked. They were after Shatara. They almost killed her when her mother saved her…but it was at the cost of her own life. Shatara lost control and killed the demons on the ship with a single attack. When they arrived at the city, Shatara’s father blamed Shatara for his wife’s death. Shatara began to ignore Konu and the rest of her family. She trained constantly and rarely ever took a break. It wasn’t until about a year later that she started acting like her normal self again…somewhat. Konu was the one who finally was able to get through to her. When Konu finally got her to start talking to people again and going outside of the castle, he took her somewhere special to them. On the way there, they took an alley. In that alley was an orphaned Sonoi child. She looked like she had just been born not too long before she had been left in the alley. Shatara took her on and named her Breeo.Shatara considered Breeo as her daughter. Konu and Shatara began to become closer to each to each other. Shatara’s father saw that the two were close and decided that because it was Shat’s fault that he lost his wife, that he would send Konu away. Konu had to obey and so he left on a mission for the king. At the age of 14, everything changed for Shatara. Sonoi’s had been dieing by the hundreds, but not from natural causes. Shatara’s daughter Breeo had been the third Sonoi to be killed. Shatara’s father finally came to his senses and sent a message to Konu for him to return. A week later, they decided that it would be safer if they got Shatara, Nya, Lee, and Kuro out of the city. When they were heading towards the docks, the streets were unusually empty and quiet. Shatara and her family thought nothing of it. When they reached the docks, they were ambushed by a man who called himself Kurunoe. Shatara’s family tried to protect her, but all of them were killed in front of her. Shatara was upset and so she attacked the man. He simply dodged her attacks and then stabbed her in the shoulder above her heart with a dagger dipped in a deadly poison. Shatara lost consciousness. When she woke up, she was with Konu. He told her that he had made something like a contract with her. It saved her life. Shatara has two claw like marks on her arm towards her shoulder. They are identical to the ones that Konu has on his neck. That is the symbol for their contract. The contract allows them to draw from each others strength. They also have access to some of each others powers. Shatara was left with a black scar on her shoulder where the dagger had stabbed her. If anyone puts pressure on that scar, it sends a jolt of pain throughout Shatara’s body. Konu left her for a while in search of demons that were like him and his father and fought with the Sonoi. He found three others, Niyo, who was Shat’s sister, Nya’s fiancée, Sasurae who was Shatara’s old student and Sora whose mother had been a weapon smith for the Sonoi’s. The three of them plus Shatara and Konu formed Trinity.
