Houston Brynes

Houston has a rugged and weathered look to him commonly from men who have had a long hard life, and Houston definitely fits that bill. Scars riddle the majority of his body, his hands are rough from years of hard labor, and his dark brown hair almost over shadows his blue eyes.

Houston Omaha Byrnes was a family man at his core, he and his mother were quite close and even though his father was a notorious drifter they still had a connection. At least before Denver died, it wasn't much but he knew the man and that was important to him. Later in life when he had his wife Maggie and daughter Sophia, Houston fought to be the father he had never known. He was there for Sophia as much and as often as his job allowed him to be, being a military sniper kept him away longer than he'd like but at least he'd gotten a chance to be there at all.

Houston was deployed on a mission with a SEAL team when the accident happened, his CO decided not to inform him of the status of his family before he went out but when he returned he was confronted with the fact that both Maggie and Sophia had died in a horrible car wreck. Distraught and not thinking clearly Houston attacked his CO earning himself a dishonorable discharge and ultimately throwing himself onto the street.

Keeping it together for the funerals was important to him, he had to be strong for his family even if they were gone. It was days later that a weathered, silver haired man showed up at his door and explained to him the truth about what had happened to his family. The man didn't give his name, but there was something about him that was familiar. The old man told him about monsters, demons, angels, things that for the bulk of his life Houston had known to be fables. But to this old man they were real, and it was a demon that murdered his family.

That knowledge spurred on Houston's quest to kill any fable he ever encountered. In the beginning he was quite murderous, he wasn't one to discriminate a good thing from a bad thing. But now he's less fast and loose, more careful. Perhaps it's because he spends most of his days drinking that his murderous path has slowed down...or perhaps he's starting to realize that there is still goodness and brightness out there...whatever it is Houston has turned more into the old man that put him on the path and less of the family man he was before.
