    About his Pact:
    Depending on the rp setting, Jorun will hold a pact with one of two deities. The first is tied to darker aspects of his past, and the latter to his reformed identity and hope in shaping a new life for himself.

    Direct divine intervention does not exist in his world - the most he receives are minor to moderate boosts to his magic. He still needs to put his own effort, learning, and magic energy into every spell.

    - About Karablis:
    Also known as the Deep Shaper, this god of the tides is not very well-known and has even fewer devotees. Despite an influence loosely affecting the global tides (in both a literal and metaphorical sense), its nature is poorly understood by most - attributing the being to a 'lesser god of secrets' and representing it as a frail old man. Neither of these are in fact, true.
    - About Aryneid:
    A regional deity of Jorun's homeland, known as a goddess of the wilderness and depicted as both a huntress and protector for unfortunate peoples and animals alike. She is tied to the dawn, the coastline, new growth, and the morning dew; and is often depicted as a faun-like humanoid with iridescent scales, a cloak of long ivy, and a face too brilliant to look upon directly.

    The mage-knight order of Altinia, also comprising the governing body that oversees high-magic use and education. They retain a healthy amount of anti-mages among their ranks, and answer only to the state itself. Most nations of his world have similar governing bodies, and in the case of his homeland, mage-knights also work as arcane enforcers and investigators.

    - Ekoli Gil-Sanat:

    The premier arcane academy of Altinia's capitol, Gil-Sanat is housed within (and built upon) a portion of the old Tahjiiti temple ruins, dedicated for the purposes of arcane study nearly three centuries ago. The academy accepts only those provenly accomplished and prestigious students, requiring a sponsor's recommendation along with the demonstrated talent.

    - Ring of Karablis:

    According to what little is known of them, and the few and far between that have heard f the order, this group is a rather small and localized one. Cherishing what they consider to be hidden knowledge, there are the rare odd rumor or two regarding the use or application of blood magic within their ranks. They are largely seen as not relevant to most people's lives.

    - Golge Cemberi:

    Best thought of as his world's form of Illuminati, the Golge Cemberi is an old, storied, mysterious, and rumored organization - very few actually believe them to be as influential or conspiratorial as some claim. Regardless, their name remains in the public consciousness, if as something whose gossip is to be taken with heavy doses of salt more than anything else.

  • Magic in his homeland is a give-and-take process, a system tied to nature and the balance of all things. As such, high-level spells include those that tug at this balance more in one way than the other, or otherwise manipulate the order - there is no circumventing it, but rules can be bent. Most people have some common knowledge of magic, but higher learning is usually restricted to the upper classes - i.e. the rich, nobility, highly learned, and mage-knights.
