Biography

A minotaur wearing garish and expensive clothing that usually leaves his forearms bare, though he's fond of ornate rings, bangles, and bracelets encrusted thickly with gemstones. Bejeweled rings twinkle from his brows, and a golden hoop pierces his nose in proper bovine fashion. He favors dark, vibrant colors, especially reds, purples, and blues with dense embroidery. A belt laden with golden fittings often strains around his bulk, weighted with heavy coinpurses. Zazeal is a man unafraid to flaunt his wealth--he is dangerous, cunning, and exceptionally brutal. The largest of his leather bags, tied to the belt with golden chains, bears a flap that appears to be the skinned face of an elf, the eyes replaced with glittering sapphires said to be even more lovely than the blue eyes the person had borne in life.

Zazeal's fur is short and sleek, its dark color emphasizing his muscle tone, while a short, greasy, dark purple mane sprouts from between two pairs of black horns, one ovine and one bovine. (Originally he had just one pair, but grew the second in a storm of chaotic magic.) He could have passed for a common minotaur if it weren't for a few distinct features. First are the eyes, bright red and smoldering. Second are the teeth, each one sharp as a shark's. Third are the markings that dominate his face, hands, and forearms, as red as his eyes and almost seeming to glow in dim lighting. His body temperature is high as though he always is running a fever, and the red markings seem to put out heat like sweltering flame, just barely cool enough to keep from burning skin.

Though vile, Zazeal is charismatic and business-savvy. He is also incorrigibly racist against pretty much anyone who isn't an ungulate. Elves (especially wood elves--he can abide drow) and hyoomans are among his most hated races. A showman at heart, he enjoys being the host of a spectacle, particularly bloodsport. He sometimes carries an ornate curved shamshir with a thread-of-gold tassel on the pommel, the flat of the blade carved with a gladiatorial scene, but in truth he is more likely to rip foes apart with his bare hands than attempt to bare steel with any finesse.

Zazeal doesn't speak much of his history, though with a bit of careful prying, one could find out that he hails from the slums of Trivantis, the City of Monsters. He used to run with a gang of orphan cutthroats until he came into unexpected wealth. What happened after that is obfuscated by rumor and gossip--just the way he likes it--but he has run several successful arenas in the past. Zazeal will use his pit-fighting business as a front for these darker trades of the flesh, and he frequently engages in sapivory.
