• Description

  Abacus is a Tiefling of a being of strength and secrecy. He might be considered small, and perhaps lithe, but having lived his life with a devotion to hand-to-hand combat he is far from weak.
  
  He keeps his mid-length hair in a pony tail, and a pair of small nub-like horns protrude from his brow. His face is round, giving it a somewhat child-like quality when it is not wrinkled with worry or irritation. His nose sits in the middle, round and average.
  
  A tail covered in fine dark hair erupts from his tailbone, and fluffs when he is feeling stressed.
  
  Besides Abacus skin marking him as an outsider, he also carries with him a cloying poisonous smell, not unlike overripe fruit. It is not unusual for individuals of demonic heritage to carry the scent of brimstone, but it is yet another root for Abacus insecurities, and he takes care to hide the smell by bathing frequently, and carrying with him pouches of potpourri or other fragrant herbs. (Colognes irritate his eyes)
  
  He dresses himself from head to toe, taking care not to expose skin where he can help it. This ensemble usually includes a cloak, a tunic (long sleeved) and loose trousers, tucked into his boots.

• Biography

  Abacus was born looking like any other human, but at an early age the demonic taint seeded into his bloodline by some distant relative took root. When he began to change, his family saw that he had become something inhuman and banished him to the wilds surrounding their farming village. He considers himself lucky to have escaped the mob.
  
  But this sent him strait into a life of begging, pick-pocketing, and burglarizing to get by in life once he wandered his way into the depths of the city. He made precious few friends, but still had to hide his deformed body from the rest of the world, lest he be attacked or captured. Some people could be so superstitious, or see him as a devil looking to bring misfortune into the world, and therefore think their aggression against Abacus to be an act of divine justice.
  
  But Abacus never meant anyone any harm, and his evil appearance only went skin deep.
  
  As he grew into adulthood, he took up prize fighting as yet one more way to survive, and found that he was good at it. Rarely did he lose, but one day he faced down a man of amazing skill, and when Abacus went to ask him his secret, the man accepted him as his pupil, at least for the brief period before the master left to lands unknown.
  
  The man's tutelage had placed in Abacus a dislike for the lawless, scrambling way he had lived in the past. So he left the life of the ring, and went adventuring, taking work and quests where he could find them.
