Calandra Fengge

Cal recalls growing up in a distant land with her parents but her memory of them is vague. She was the only of their first nest to survive a particularly difficult season of increased predators during the year she was hatched. Her parents were killed just a short year or two after hatching their second nest, of which multiple eggs survived. She did her best to raise her younger siblings. Over time they all parted ways- some staying behind and others choosing to travel for some reason or another.

Once she came of age Cal figured out how to appear in a human form as many dragons before and after have. Her human form is tainted with bits of her true self. When her human form was destroyed, she was forced to find a new means to gathering such a form. Through practice and research, she found a way to manipulate bodies, usually freshly deceased, and mold them into the proper appearance. This means that if she takes a human body, she can reform it to look the way her human self does. Though the more times she does this, the more scales show through on her body.

She can use furres, ferals, any type of body. Though she'd have to keep to the general form. In example, if she uses a furre, she can give it the same general things she would the human, but would have to keep the fur and paws. With a feral, she can alter its body as well, though must stay four-legged, muzzle, etc. These general rules go for any new form she takes on though they will always have a likeness to the way she once looked as a human.

After her siblings moved on, she didn't want to stay in a place that held difficult memories. So she took off for the coast to see what the world had to offer. Cal was still young by dragon standards when she became a cabin boy on a pirate ship. Her loud mouth often got her beaten.. She had a love for the sea despite how horrid things were on the ship.. Soon enough they sold her into slavery. She broke free about six years later, and bartered her way onto another ship, sailing free for many years. Soon she became first mate to the captain and on his death she took his place. No one knows how long she sailed, just that she was known across many seas as Captain Fengge of The Saoirse.

After retiring from piracy she lived alone on an island peacefully for years until rival pirates raided her home sweet home and captured her as a slave and sold her to The Golden Tether. She was bought by a surprisingly kind master, a merchant named Astarot whom she blacksmithed for. She handled basic orders such as armor, shields, and leather pieces as well as entirely custom work (like a pair of special claw caps for an arena fighter). When the time came for her master to retire, he released her. After so many years serving him she wasn't sure what to do with her life anymore. She became a traveling merchant, working in various forges in exchange for free time to forge her own items to sell along her travels. She does not divulge that she was once a slave and avoids the subject altogether.

*Years ago, Calandra become a member of the crew of the Sunbird, a ship that transports goods and patrons to and from The Golden Tether. She has operated as a mercenary under their flag, seeing to any and all tasks she can earn coin for. It allows her enough free time to still work the forge and see to her studies. She can often be found at the smithies or libraries wherever they make port when she's not handling any other jobs.

[*Note: The Sunbird is less active these days so I'm not sure if Cal is still considered part or not. If not or if in a setting/universe that is different from the one in which The Sunbird and The Golden Tether exist, then simply replace it with an unnamed ship until I can find a crew within that setting for her to join.]
