  • Lys wasn't always like this. In fact she was quite normal. As a child she was bright, outgoing, and her parents were sure that she was going to be the first to graduate college. Living in the midwest you tend to get used to thunderstorms and tornadoes. It was her 15th birthday, and though the skies grayed and the clouds grew heavy, her parents insisted that their daughter was going to get a party.. Rain or Shine.

    The skies threatened to open up all day. It was something that Kelly grew up with. Stormy weather was common where she grew up. But on this day, something didn't feel quite right. Something was different.

    Her parents brought out her cake, they were all sitting around the picnic table in their backyard. Even still, she can remember them singing to her...

    It was then that the skies finally proved their wrath. It came without a warning. It came without a single drop of rain. There was a flash, it was so bright and hot... Kelly's corneas were burned almost instantly. Her parents were instantly killed. But Kelly-- The skies had a different plan for her. The force of the lightning shot her across the yard, pinning her against the metal slide she used to play on as a child. The voltage surged through her, her body unable to escape the hold it had on her. She was convinced that this was Death felt like. And she was more than willing to die, knowing that her parents would be waiting.

    The police never found her body. The only indication that she was present was her silhouette which was burned into the slide. They ruled it as a freak accident, the house was soon demolished and a park was placed in the family's honor.

    Now, it would be near impossible to say when exactly she returned. If you ask her, she would say that she was birthed from lightning itself; as if her form was riding on the currents of the sky and only came to earth by way of a lightning bolt during a storm on the anniversary of her birthday. Gone is that once innocent and bright teenager. A decade and a half has passed since that birthday, and she is not at all like she was.
