- The Joker really and truly irritates the Riddler. Edward can't express enough how different riddles are in comparison to jokes. And while there is rhyme and reason to the Riddler's methodology, i.e. raising the I.Q., the Joker has a flair for murdering indiscriminately -- chaos for chaos's sake.
- On the subject of the Joker, that thorazine deprived whack job has, time and time again, attempted to coerce, persuade, and occasionally abscond with the Riddler in an effort to make him his 'sidekick', much to the Riddler's dismay. Joker claims they're in the same line of business and even have the same tastes in fashion. As if that is enough to be convincing...
- Shy, awkward, and a natural introvert (INTP), Edward has never been one for socializing. He simply cannot understand the complexities of human emotional interaction.
- Nigma is most confident in solitude, working alone, in his own thoughts. Over time working like this, he’s developed an insatiable power-complex as the Riddler. He will use anyone and anything to his advantage in order to maintain a dominant presence and mental superiority.
- With voyeuristic tendencies, the Riddler contentedly hides behind his feeds and monitors keeping a close eye on his quarries and adversaries to a disturbingly obsessive extent.
- Edward cannot resist a good question, and he’ll often spend hours simply pursuing an answer. Mysteries left open will eat Edward alive, consuming his conscious train of thought until he’s satisfied with a solution.
- Once he dons his typical ‘Riddler’ disguise, he hides any signs of social inadequacy behind his mask. He becomes bold, flashy, and eagerly sneering at those who oppose him. If someone upstages the Riddler, he will do everything in his power to become the 'star attraction’ once more. There is only one thing he loves more than attention: winning. He adores competition, yet will not stand to lose.
- When entirely focused on something, Edward has a tendency to poke his tongue out of the corner of his mouth in concentration. This quirk dates back well in to his childhood.
- The Riddler lost his best informant and technically savvy henchman to Two-Face during the events that transpired right before the Arkham City project went live. The man's name was Joe DeMarco.
- Eddie is extremely incapable of intimacy. He may boast of certain things, but when it comes down to actual performance, he's about as awkward as it gets. Coercion is the only tactic when attempting to win a Riddler over.
- Edward is fanatically organized. Everything has it's place. Disrupt his clutter and his whole world comes crashing down. That being said, he's unsurprisingly tidy.
- During any kind of downtime -- whether he's waiting on Batman to spring his trap, find his clues, or just taking a break from it all -- the Riddler enjoys crossword puzzles, keeping up with the media, watching documentaries or pestering Two-Face.
- Coffee. It is a must. Edward thrives off the stuff and without it, his mood declines in to cranky rather quickly. He will go out of his way to make doubly certain his stores are stocked with the stuff.
- Nigma suffers from insomnia. The key cause to this is likely his neuroses, but, of course, he will deny that until the day he dies, while instead, blaming it on the fact that he's just so ingenious, he forgets how to turn his brain off at night. The Penguin had once accused his insomina on his forgetting to turn his swag off at night.
- Edward has an organization system he calls 'exclusive to himself', which is a system that only really makes sense to him, while it bewilders everyone else around him no matter how many times he tries to explain it. It takes a careful eye to notice the thought he's put into his work - Edward likes to add originality to spice up his everyday life.
- Portions of his ill-gotten gains go to promoting higher-education and raising awareness for more independently intellectual pursuits while abstaining from educational conformity.
- Upon interpersonal disaster, a certain element of apathy is held towards this situation. Edward doesn't really have many he's attached to, he's disconnected from the world around him, whether or not he knows it, and pushes issues in to unsafe repression. Perhaps one could even argue that within his psyche, there is a hidden desire to have a connection with someone, however.
- Yes, Edward Nigma smokes. Considering how stressed he almost always is, it's sort of expected.
- Edward isn't really all that misanthropic. He's very controlled in what he says and doesn't just spout off things 'just because'. He is a strong believer in "Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something" (Plato). However, this doesn't stop him from being rather rude when a situation's completely out of his control.
- Creating riddles, solving puzzles, and the like are cool down methods for the Riddler. When he is overwhelmed or in need of mental recuperation, these among other similar activities help to energize his brain.
- If he ever manages to unwind and get comfortable with someone, Nigma is actually rather playful and endearing. He would lavish a significant other with enamoring words, exceedingly thoughtful gifts, and go as far as to kill or even spare a life for them.
- Edward's a gamer. Hardcore. If he's not spending vast amounts of downtime working on puzzles or crosswords, he's gaming until dawn and beyond. Strategy, skills, thought-provoking storylines are his M.O. for gaming -- he likes to keep the cogs in his brain spinning -- no time for lethargy!
- With a ridiculously fast acting metabolism, Edward can chow down on just about anything and not really suffer repercussions of a lot of his poor diet choices. However, when his fixation on being the Riddler overtakes him, he'll forget to eat entirely and become gaunt and much too thin. His favorites include coffee of almost any variety and high calorie junk food.

Locality and Affiliations
The entrance to Nigma's safe haven is to the west of the island and is near Arkham City’s border wall between Gotham. The Riddler has maintained his current hideout near the Bowery in Gotham City for the past two years, and was able to put down his roots there as it were, by hacking in to the majority of Gotham's infrastructure. The hideout is equipped with advanced security and monitoring systems and hidden well away from any private or public eye.
If under pressure, whether it be by the GCPD, trespassing by other Arkhamites on to his turf, or Batman himself, the Riddler will occasionally relocate to dissuade any detectives or curious others from locating his main base, even opting to leave town and stay with a friend in Central City if he has to. He does have other locations when the going gets tough, but none as equipped as his main base.
There are certain ties that promise Edward his freedom should he need out of the Asylum or, for whatever heinous reasons, need to relocate without question. In turn, Riddler will assist them accordingly, because payback is a very beneficial trait when assistance is needed later. These close associates are:
The Broker. Sherman Fine, also known as The Broker, provides hideouts and secret lairs for Gotham City's criminals at a monetary price. He does so without question and is a professional at keeping secrets and becoming elusive when law officials are about.
Weather Wizard. A cohort from Central City, and a member of the infamous Rogues -- A band of notorious criminals pit against the Flash -- who will occasionally come to Edward's aid if, and only if, he and the rest of the Rogues can get updates on what Catwoman's been up to.
Two-Face. One of Riddler's best chances of survival and key accessory to a lot of his breakouts from Arkham. Two-Face has a tendency to tolerate Riddler's neurotic behavior for reasons unknown, but some would suggest it has a lot to do with the amount of information he has to offer or, perhaps, Two-Face's right hand man, Joe DeMarco.
