Fairyland

There is a dark wood called the Deep Woods or the Black Forest. It is very easy to find your way into the wood, but not so easy to find the way out. This is where the stranger things live. The princesses and talking animals you may have heard of in story books. They aren't as nice as the versions you may have read about. This is also where the people and things from the not so nice stories live. Like the big bad wolf and the witches and evil mothers and step-mothers live with their families. They do not die like the Fae do. They can be killed, but then they just get back up again a short time later. Most are almost normal, they age, they marry, have families, and so forth in their own ways. A few are even stranger and don't even do that

The land is primarily divided into two sides. Those that live on Storybook Road and beyond and those that live along Nursery Rhyme Lane and beyond. The land to the west that includes Storybook Road is further split into small kingdoms which are often at war with each other. This is where most of the princesses, talking animals and assorted other fairytale persons live such as Snow White and Prince Charming.

A young man sat on a stump with a bag slung over his shoulder. His age was unclear as it seemed to waver between ten and twenty before setting somewhere in the teens. He pulled an uncooked bean from his bag and bit into the hard morsel. "Only beans left. At least they're better than dirt," he said aloud, "though near equal to bark." He glanced at a nearby tree and mused, "Tree bark has more flavor. What do you think?" he said, addressing a passing traveler, "Would you prefer to live off of uncooked beans or tree bark?"

The boy pulled a pair of walnuts from his bag and marveled over them. "What do you know, there are things other than beans in this bag," the boy remarked. He stuck his head into the bag and pulled it out drawing a loaf of bread and wheel of cheese out with a hand. "Bread? Cheese? Have I started over again?" he asked.

The boy hopped off the stump and walked through the trees. He spied a small shed that was falling apart. The cottage beside it was in no better shape. The boy smiled and beckoned to the white cow that came walking out of the shed. "Ah, so you are not sold then?" he asked the beast, "Or are you? Maybe both? Who's to know?" He patted the cow's neck and took hold of the rope that hung from her neck. "Now where is mother?" he asked the cow.

"Jack? Is that you?" a woman called from the house. "Yes, Mother," the boy called to her, "Did you buy Milky White back?" The woman came out of the house and struck the boy upside the head with a wooden spoon. "What nonsense is that?" she scolded him, "I told you to sell that cow twice, now go! You should have been and returned by now, Jack!" The boy rubbed his head and tugged at the cow's rope so she would follow him. "I'm sorry, Mother. I'll go now, I will," he said softly. "Don't worry I'll sell her and come home with enough money to buy her back and anything else we could ever want!" he exclaimed excitedly.

Goat mother and seven kids - kids often eaten by wolf or leopard. Three males of the seven may be the Billy Goats Gruff.

Leopard(female either animal or human) - eats goat kids instead of wolf doing so in some tales. Seems to have played the part of b'rer fox in certain tales. May have been married to the wolf. If still married to him decided if he was before or after Red. Leopard would be the jealous type and if first wife would be mean to Red(and have athourity over her) if second would be mean in other ways.

Hen and Rooster - animal couple that are a bit glutinous. The wife often chokes to death while trying to eat a big nut. She tries to eat it too fast and chokes. She eats too fast so she doesn't have to share.

The Cat that walks by itself - a talking tomcat

Sausage, Pin, Cheese, Coin, ect. - living objects. Some are roommates or friends. They often travel in groups. The food in these groups tastes just like regular food. As all of these are immortal and revive from any injury and death all the time, including being eaten by each other, consuming them when one is not an immortal thing (and can't be cut open and sewn back up without issue) is not advised.

Royalty

Brother Deer - a boy what was turned into a fawn(and grew into a stag) by magic water. His sister married a King.

Princess Sister - sibling of Brother Deer. She married a King.

Queen Gretel Silver Hands/Gretel - Sister of Hansel, wife of King Roland, mother of Prince Hansel Gold Hair.

King Roland - ruling king and husband of Gretel, brother-in-law of Hansel and father of Prince Hansel Gold Hair.

Prince Hansel Gold Hair - son of King Roland and Queen Gretel Silver Arms(or Silver Hands).
He freed Iron Hans against his father's orders and lived with him for some time. He obeyed Iron Hans by not letting things fall into the magic lake or the well, but once when leaning forward to catch a leaf so it would not touch the water the tips of his hair touched the water and all the strands of his hair turned to fine gold, as does anything that touches the water. Iron Hans sent the boy away when he learned what had happened. This is how the prince earned the name Gold Hair.

The people that live here often cannot age and so they may be hundreds of years old but still look like children.

Marjorie Daw - plays on the see-saw and is married to Johnny Piper.

Johnny Piper - husband of Marjorie. He has bad luck at keeping jobs and is not paid well for the work he does. He is slow at his work, but he can't go faster as the rhyme says.

Miss Muffet - Scared of spiders. A tuffet is a small round footstool seat. (Like what some little girls have paired with a small vanity.) Curds are the squeaky bits that are made into cheese. Whey is the liquid that is drained off in making cheese. Miss Muffet either lives near a dairy or is associated with someone who owns a dairy. Why anyone would eat curds and whey is not known.

Lucy Locket and Kitty Fisher - Roommates. The first is clumsy and messy while the other is tidy and keeps things together for them both.

Polly, Sukey, Dinah - Owner and staff at the diner. The railroad train stops near the diner and it's a popular spot with tourists and travelers.

The Sun-boy and Moon-girl, a married couple. He a nobleman's son and she an orphan. They were born in a witch's house and raised by her(Sun's mother was told her child died while Moon's mother did die so only one lie needed to be told about their births). The boy was raised to be awake during the daytime and to fear darkness even shadows while the girl was raised to be awake at night and to fear the light of day. The girl being clever and curious found the way out of her room into the main part of the house and from there she found her way outside, it was night then. When the day came she was afraid but the boy found her and assured her that she was safe - until the arrival of night turned his spirit to water and she had to comfort him. They ran away from the witch's house and though much searching they found the boy's birth parents who took the pair into their home. The boy and girl were married shortly afterward(for they were grown by the time they met each other).



The Fool Who Did Not Know What Fear Was: This guy is also known as Ivan and Jack and Tupa*(*The name Tupa is from a version RP the story where the inhabitants of the Black Forest do not speak English by default and the character Tupa was merged with the old fairytale protagonist Fearless Ivan). He was born with a peculiarity in that he has no understanding of fear. He understands that others feel fear but he does not. He was not experimented on nor did he ever undergo a lobotomy though it is clear that something might be off with his frontal lobe since he has no fear(in the literal sense not the cool sense - this is what happens when you try to insert reality into fantasy). This does not mean he is without feelings, he is often a joyful friendly person. The man is from an out of the way rural area from the old country and in his own tongue he has an noticeable accent due to where he was raised. When he speaks English(which is not his first language) it is not so obvious that he is from such a background though magic translators force him to sound like a stereotypical country raised man, which stereotype he sounds like depends on what spell is used and who is listening to him.

Tupa due to a decree unknown to him he 'won' the hand of a princess. He was told that if he could spend the night in a a certain haunted house he would learn what fear was. However the king of that land(King Ferdinand) had announced that whatever man could rid that same house(for it was a manor belonging to the King's family) of the ghosts and monsters that lived there would marry his daughter, his only child.

Tupa did rid the house of the ghosts and monsters though he didn't do so on purpose, exactly. When the king heard of it he had the fool married to his daughter as he'd said he would for he would not go back on his word. The princess did not mind that her husband was not interested in her early on but as the years went by she started to mind. Tupa is very fond of his wife but he is often asexual(the inhabitants of the Black Forest are at the whim of the storytellers, humans, so things about them often change though most things stay the same). At times Tupa and his wife, Princess Josephine(he calls her Sephy) and at times their two children are their biological children while other times they are adopted, at times they are twins other times they are not.

The names of the king and princess are not commonly known as those who do not have names in their stories are not well known. So to get into the palace saying you known the king or princess you must pass a test and give the king or princess' name(both if you say you are a friend or relative of the princess' children or her husband).

Tupa is not the same Jack as Jack and the Beanstalk/Jack the Giant killer(That Jack is a con man and a thief). Tupa is the same Jack that jumped over the candlestick.

*Tupa is not from any old fairytale and is purly made up for RP purposes to make this character more unique than all the other Ivans and Jacks out there.

They do still have males and females. They also have a third gender, but it is not clear what function the third group plays in relation to the first two more numerous groups. Tellus is male because he is purple.
