  * That human was different from every other human in their village.
  * This human didn't understand remorse or even emotions.
  * They had a strange sense of humor.
  * They thought everyone suffering was funny.
  * They were impatient. They were uncreative.
  * They only did things if they got rewards out of it.
  * They didn't like wasting time.
  * And never understood otherwise.
  
  * The village constantly berated, yelled at, maybe even hurt the child.
  * Even their parents viewed them as bad.
  * Nobody in the village liked this child because of it.
  * Nobody understood. Or even tried to.
  * And so, they placed all of the village's problems on this human.
  * When something went wrong, it was the child's fault.
  * When someone got hurt, it was the child's fault.
  * The child saw humanity for what it really was.
  * A cesspool of hate and wrong-doing.
  
  * ..
  * Until one day..
  
  * The human heard of a place that they could run to and escape.
  * O̕͡r҉ ͠fį͞n͏̡d͢͠ ̛͡a w̸̡͝ay̵͠ ͏tơ̵̧ ́d̶̡e̴̡śt̵r̡͟oy ̡̀͡the͏m̢ ̢a͢l͟l̷̕.
  * The human, angry, berated, and full of hate, fled there, expecting to disappear from existence.
  * But, instead..
  
  
  
  * They lived.
  * The child, eventually found by the prince of this world, was adopted into a new family.
  * They were confused.
  * The world was full of hope.
  * It was the first time the human ever felt like they belonged.
  
  * ...
  * Or was it?
  
  * "Humans trapped us down here.."
  * "If a monster absorbs a human soul.."
  * "They will transform into a being of ultimate power."
  * "The power to destroy everyone.."
  
  * Fogged by their hate of humanity, the human wanted nothing more than to make everyone pay.
  * But they could not without help.
  * They began to spiral downwards.
  * The human became manipulative.
  * They hated humanity so much.

  * The human came up with a plan.
  * But it required the ultimate sacrifice.
  * The human had to give up their SOUL.
  
  * Using the excuse of 'we'll save everyone,' the human got their brother on their side.
  
  

  'THE PLAN'

  * The plan was simple.
  * The human, with the prince's help, would poison themself with the buttercups in the underground.
  * They would die a slow, painful death.
  * Then, the prince would absorb the human's soul.
  * The human would live on inside their brother.
  * And, together..
  * They would gather enough human SOULs to break the barrier..
  * To free everyone.

  Buttercup Poisoning

  Death by buttercups is not the way anyone wants to go. It's slow, it's painful, and it's VERY antagonizing. It's also very, very gross.
  
  Buttercup poisoning is known to cause bloody diarrhea, excessive salivation, colic (severe, often fluctuating pain in the abdomen caused by intestinal gas or obstruction in the intestines), and severe blistering of the mouth, mucous membranes and gastrointestinal tract. They also include:
  
  Abdominal cramps
  Blistering
  Bloody diarrhea
  Contact dermatitis
  Pain
  Swelling
  Kidney irritation - if large quantity eaten
  Kidney damage - if large quantity eaten
  Salivation
  Vomiting
  Ulceration
  
  TL;DR: Buttercup poisoning is not fun and it's not fast but Chara has purposely poisoned himself to death with them because he needed his death to look natural and not suicidal.

  * The human fell ill.
  * Days passed.
  * The human died.
  
  * Their last wish was to see the flowers of their village.
  * The prince absorbed the human's soul, and carried the human's body to the surface.
  * To be able to do this.
  * It was part of the plan.
  
  * But..
  * The village, misunderstanding what had happened, shot at the prince.
  * This is what the human wanted.
  * The human wanted to fight.
  * The human wanted his brother to hate humans as much as he did.
  * They could destroy everyone.
  * They had the power to start another war.
  * And with seven human souls..
  * They would be a god.
  * And save everyone.
  * The human wanted humanity to suffer.
  * The human..
  * Wanted to make humanity pay for what they had done.
  
  * ...
  * But..
  
  * The prince resisted.
  * Striken by grief, the prince only smiled, and walked away.
  * Back into the underground, carrying the human's body.
  
  * And the human..
  * Was struck with unfantomable rage.
  * With unfantomble hate for his brother.
  * They would both die together.
  * Because of their brother.
  
  * And, together..
  * They both turned to dust.
  * ...
  * Until, one day..
  * H̝̪̲̠̩̀ͅe̠ ͍̯͘w̞̬͚̬̫̙̹o̷͖̦k̸e҉͓̗̼̯ ̡͖͚̦͖͍̖u͖͍̪̯̰͉p̟̻.͈̙͢

  Chara comes from a Genocide route, but that goes without saying; anyone who could detect his LV would be able to tell that, and chances are most monsters would flee or run when they pick up on it. However, rather than seeing his end through to the very end, as is expected, as was PLANNED, the end to Chara's run was abruptly stopped by someone peculiar.
  
  Sans himself.
  
  They spent hours, hours, and hours, maybe even days, fighting. They never let up. Chara never let up; he just kept going. And going. And going and going and going. Deriving some sick enjoyment out of it, Chara never showed any signs of getting tired or even doing much beyond the long drowl of fighting, sans, pun intended, the few times that he talked. Until..
  
  'welp. guess that's game over, huh?' Finally. Finally, they were through. He was victorious. He had won. He was going to erase that time line's reality, bend reality itself, and then move on to the next.. over and over. And over. He'd consume them until he no longer had any left and the possibilities were endless now.
  
  ..
  
  But something happen.
  
  When he went to finish the job.. When he was so close. When he was one slash away..
  
  .. it was all ripped from him in a matter of moments. This Sans, still having one last trick, casted them both out of reality. Into the void, where he was to live out the rest of his eternal days, erased from reality itself, as was the rest of his timeline.
  
  ... But he was thrown back by something that didn't enjoy it. Something that he still cannot make heads or tails of, but knew it wasn't happy with him being in the void, and so he was cast out. Just not to his own reality. A different one. An alternate timeline. Sans tried to erase him from reality. From existing all together. Needless to say, Chara didn't react very well to this, or healthily, for that matter. After he was forced back out of the void and into another timeline, after the confusion and aftermath left him, Chara was..
  
  ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LIVID.
  
  Now, Chara's royally pissed. He has no hopes of returning to his own reality, stuck one LV away from being able to flawlessly erase reality itself, and will never reach that point of his LOVE where he could have such power over the world, even if it was destroyed.
  
  Stuck in a different timeline, Chara set out to immediately destroy it in every single way that he could. He set out, immediately, to track down the Sans that had done this to him, to track down the Sans that had tried to erase him from reality, not knowing that the same Sans had, indeed, landed in another timeline, far, far away from him. But it did not stop Chara, the anomaly, from attempting to.
  
  He quickly realized he wasn't gaining any EXP. He'd kill, and kill, and kill, but never once did his EXP ever hit above what it had when he got thrown out. He was pissed. He was angry. He didn't know what to do or how to handle this. He didn't know why he had been 'punished' at all. He didn't understand, but he did know that his Sans was ULTIMATELY THE ENTIRE CAUSE OF EV͚͕E͇̙R̸̹̤Y̴͖̩̦̠͍͓͕THI̷̬̤̥N͕͙͎̭ͅG̶͍̖.̯̰̥̼̪̺͢
  
  There was nothing sweeter than the taste of revenge, anyway.
  
  

  HEADCANONS

  🔪 My version can become corporeal for a period of time, though he can lose this if he takes a big enough blow

  To put it in Asriel's simple words.. 'Chara wasn't the greatest person.' And it was true.
  
  Chara's personality is very easy to describe. He..
  
  ... IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
  
  And that's actually not too far off. Chara is severely hindered in emotions and only seems to be focused on a few, which is primarily RAGE and HATRED. Chara has no remorse. No mercy. He feels no pain for what he does to others and very little of what others do to him. If he kills, he doesn't even flinch. He laughs other people's pain off, and speaks in an oddly short, sophisticated manner around people, even if this can change at the drop of a needle. He's merciless, brutal, cruel, and sadistic, and would not hesitate in an instant to kill a person right off the bat, friend or foe.
  
  But, of course, Chara having friends.. is RIDICULOUS. Why would he need friends? He's got himself, all the power in the world, all the skill he wants. And clearly shows a severe lack of understanding of actual love and compassion. He doesn't understand how relationships work or form, and has no interest in keeping them or even socializing with people beyond getting the things that he wants or needs.
  
  To put it blunt, Chara has no emotions; all his emotions are fabricated based off what he has seen from others, with the exception being rage, which is the only genuine emotion that Chara may have at any time. Even that is questionable. He probably won't be your fiend, and even if it is, you'd be left constantly wondering if it was genuine or not.
  
  Or, at least, that's the gist of things. But, being a soulless being, would anyone blame him? Very rarely do soulless entities exist. On top of that, Chara is obsessed with power. Like, sickeningly so; it is all he focuses on at any one time and seems to always have the ultimate goal of getting as strong as humanely possible, by any means necessary. And if that includes killing, well, then that includes killing. Including you.
  

  ... but was he always?

  It's debateable, and Chara, at this point, wouldn't say anything about it, anyway. He calls himself the demon that comes when people call its name, because that is firmly how he views himself. But, was it always that way?
  
  Chances are, not entirely, but it was still pretty bad.
  
  Chara was never inherently evil, just severely flawed with a lot of emotional problems and a sick, twisted humor, which involved laughing other people's pain off and being manipulative, such as in the case of Asriel. He was never honestly that bad before he died, just.. different. He had a different way of doing things, a dark, pessimistic way of viewing things, and his hatred of humanity and will and want to destroy his village often clouded his judgement. This progressively got worst, and worst. He has always shown the tell tale signs of someone with both sociopathic and psychopathic, as well as an underlying schizoid in nature, but this still does not, and will not ever, justify any actions he did, living, or dead. He is the personification as hatred and murder, mostly hate, and when he was alive, he only wanted to destroy humanity, not reality. But his death is a different story, and he later exists as the Underground's version of a Goetic demon.

  The million dollar question: can Chara be saved?
  
  Well, maybe. But, then again, maybe not. Can you save someone that has no soul and feels no remorse? And, more accurately.. does anyone have the determination to do so?
  
  

  DEMONIZATION

  Chara's death is where things get complicated, and perhaps a little sad.
  
  Human souls are often seized, absorded, or lost to the abyss if nothing is done. Chara's, however, is the malcontent, disappering along side Asriel's. The rogue soul. Nobody knows where it went after Asriel and his deaths, but it sure as hell is not in anyone's possession, especially not Asgore, or Asriel himself.
  
  So what happen?
  
  Well, it's still there.. but different. It's not a soul. It's a force all of its own, converted into some strange energy that monsters may call 'determination.' Only select humans can use as much 'determination' as Chara had.. his determination to keep living. His determination.. to murder everyone he looked at. Someone dying on that falls down the route of angered spectre, but in Chara's case, he was revitalized as a demonic spawn who fuels off just that. Murder. Hate. Power. Greed. Especially at his idiot brother.
  
  Chara was 'reborn' into Frisk, and he is not very quiet at all. He tampers with Frisk's thought patterns, twists around their actions when he does, and throws nightmares at them so that they will not sleep for more than a few minutes at a time. He has a lot of murderous intent; he still wants to kill and destroy everything, including reality itself. He still wants to destroy everything, and that murderous intent is often pooled into the depths of Frisk's mind and very soul, telling them to do bad, until he can gain full control.
  
  Chara did not die a peaceful death, and that hatred towards his 'idiot brother' reveals itself in his twisted ways. He is, and will always be, bitter over Asriel resisting him, blaming him for their deaths and blaming him for Chara's later demonization; he's not a demon possessed child. He is the literal demon. Chara is a twisted person who worsened whenever he gained 'sentinence,' when he died and became the hellspawn of Satan, because of his intense hatred, want to murder, and the darkness in his now black soul.
  
  Or, maybe, a more accurate way to put it, was him becoming Satan himself. After all, Lucifer fell from the heavens, in the same way, say, a child falls into a hole, no?

  Can Chara be saved?
  ? YES

  MAYBE
  
  As I stated before, I have never seen Chara as inherently evil; I firmly believe it is the player's actions that make both Frisk and Chara become what they do, that it is YOUR ACTIONS that teach both Frisk and Chara that it's okay to kill--and my Chara already firmly believed it was okay to kill. I know Chara was bad from the start, but he was never 'evil.' Just a bad kid who was taught or did bad things and never realized they were bad--or was constantly berated for being different in his village, due to his twisted way of seeing things, his sick humor, and selfish, greedy ways.
  
  To be blunt, Chara was taught into these actions. He was taught to hurt and harm early on in his life and he always had issues off the back because of his struggle in emotions. It is implied that Chara went through hell and back in the village, and that was what caused him to become the twisted asshole that he is today, before finally climbing the mountain in order to disappear because of it, and the rest is history.
  
  What happen at the village is a mystery that Chara keeps locked away in the deepest of depths of his mind and lack of a SOUL, enough that even Chara himself seems to have forgotten why he hated people in the first place, just that he knew he hated them NOW, monsters included, because he couldn't, and can't, stand to have any loss of power due to his death. He blames Asriel, and it appears that no amount of anything will convince him otherwise. Asriel was the reason their plan failed. Asriel was the reason he ended up dying in vain. And that meant, by default, that monsters were to blame, too. And cue his hatred for every living thing at all.
  
  But, if you plan on tangoing with mine along the 'SAVE' route, then straddle in for a long fight, because it's not going to be easy, and is actually near impossible without exposing him, personally, to emotions and humanity, and all that comes with them. Mercy included. But it will be a fight, a long, painful, drawnout fight, that, likely, will result in pain, stabbing, cursing, yelling, more stabbing, more pain, and everything in between.
  
  But maybe someone could fix his corrupted heart if they tried hard enough.
