• Biography

  Airea Blackburn shut her eyes tight, the tears flowing down her cheeks as the pounding on the door increased. Angry voices screamed outside, torches and pitchforks waving in the night, crying out for the beast within. Before her, the strong woman she loved as her mother paced. Her birthday had been yesterday and she had promised to keep her hat on and her tail hidden so she could have friends over, but thirteen was a tricky number. Doxen, the blacksmith's boy and her crush, had come to the party. With her skirts pulled about her hips, she had kissed him on top of her, letting her hat fall aside. Mid-kiss, he froze, those clear blue eyes staring in horror at her bare head. Her fox ears twitched as he screamed, taking off out the door and past everyone where she chased him, only to freeze. "MONSTER!" They screamed, children and parents panicking as they ran out, her mother staring in horror.
  
  At first they were shunned, she locked in her room as the humans worked themselves into a frenzy, calling her mother all types of names. Saying she was a demon, they plotted until the night came. Now the walls vibrated with chanted voices to kill her, burn her mother and their family home down. "Airea listen to me." Her mother held her face, those blue and gold eyes looking into her own golden ones. "You will run far away from here." She said slowly to her daughter, foreheads pressed together to get her attention. "You will find your father and tell no one of me. I will cast you out with the last bit of strength I have before I disappear." Her mother stood up then, starting to chant as runes glowed on her skin.
  
  "M-Mother! Don't!" As Airea went to rise, hand extended, she fell into a field of flowers, the full moon above her head. Staring at the space where her mother had been a moment ago, she sobbed, shivering in the damp and cold. Her tail curled about her leg as she pulled her hat over her ears and slowly stood up, wiping her tears. Slowly the thirteen year old would start to travel, searching for clues to her father's whereabouts. With her human mother missing, she had no choice.
  
  As the years passed, her dress would become destroyed, the one thing of her mother's she had left, turned to scraps. With the minimal thieving skills she had, she would manage to take a tank top and a shawl, but that was it. It would be her current attire until she thought otherwise. It covered her important parts, but as she wandered farther from human lands, she found no need to cover her ears or tail. She would search for the feral lands and her father, if not her kin.
