Born to Alice and Tyson Maximè, Sean didn't have a conventional family. Or rather, according to nowaday's standards, he did. His father was an authoritarian and his mother was a kind, soft-spoken woman - she was pliant under his control, which eventually turned into tyrany. Sean was born into that type of family environment and quickly got involved. He wasn't the one primarily accosted by his father's drunken antics, but he would get his fair share whenever he would get in his way. With age Sean's attempts at interfering increased in frequency and so did the beatings. He couldn't understand why his father found the meed to use phsical violence and why his mother often endured the abuse silently. Upon starting school, Sean immediatelly took after his father in temper. He was defensive, crude, didn't take any criticism and had no tolerance for either verbal abuse or bullying. He attacked from the slightest provocation and almost always hit first. He was a rowdy child so his teachers never thought much of any extra bruises or cuts that appeared over his face and body. His parents split up when he was 9 but that didn't change much other than his location. His mother developed the tendency to leave and then return to his father periodically. She couldn't keep a decent job for long, so she often endured her ex-husband's abuse for the sake of financial help for her and Sean. Tired of watching, Sean dropped out of yet another school at 14 and refused to return, opting instead to get a job to support his mother. He didn't want to be liability for her or be the reason she returned to his father. Sadly, he wasn't the reason but the excuse.
Sean learned what Stockholm Syndrome meant at 15 when the nurses tending to his mother in her hospital bed said it in the middle of hushed conversation. 'Poor thing, he beat her half to death. And in front of her son too...'. A day prior Alice had returned to her husband for the last time, only to barely get out with her life after a near-fatal beating. Her injuries and Sean's testament was all the police needed to start a case against Tyson. The bastard got six years in prison for attempted murder, domestic and child abuse. Sean let the nurses talk. He and his mother were safe. |
From then on it was Sean that supported his mother and himself financially. Going through a near death experience and watching her abuser get locked up had derailed Alice severely and she had neither the strength nor the motivation to get and sustain a stable job. It was Sean's duty to do so. Without a high school diploma jobs were incredibly hard to find, but the, at the time, 16 year old couldn't return to his studies without any financial support. He did the next best thing and started dabbling in petty thefts, small roberies, along with some odd legal jobs, but he was introduced to the grittier side of illegal money-making very shortly after. He eventually got introduced to the mafia as he realized how much money and respect it brought and how much up his alley it was. There wasn't much education qualifications to be had, so his intelligence made him exceptional amongst the many men who'd left their education early on like him but hadn't bothered to educate themselves further. Alongside being innovative, agile, quick-witted and quick-footed, he was incredibly ambitions, but he needed some guidance from an adult. The only person who could handle him was Richard Le Brun, a successful conartist, who managed to employ Sean's temper and anger to better use in the assassination fields.
Wrecked by the torturous experience, Sean, like any PTSD victim, vowed to never let that happen to him again. Never be weak. So the cocky prettyboy left for military. He wrote himself down for the minimum of 2 year active duty and 6 years in the military reserve, but had promised Jayme - his entrusted sister figure - to find a way to return earlier. He felt guilty for leaving her behind but he prioritized building himself up stronger.
A year or so after having escaped Hart Sean returned to his work but with a fair amount of caution. He did more undercover missions now and assassinated only high-standing businessmen with many enemies. In a turn of surprising events he took up a job offer that lead him to meeting Natalie again while trying to kill a target. Whereas he was hired to kill a man, Natalie was protecting him along with other FBI agents. He was unable to harm her and found himself cornered by her gun. Mouthy and intelligent as he was, he managed to pull her to his side again, convincing her to flee from her FBI mentor. She returned to the congame alongside him and he took her into his home. They resumed life as 'brother and sister', but more had begun to grow between them as they were now grown and with different mentalities. Similarly broken and jaded, they bonded farther than friendship. They formed a powerful team that took assassination missions together and soon were on the verge of becoming a couple as they both fell for each other. Unsure of whether he deserved her, Sean began to push the woman away, beginning to doubt his decision to attract her to his side. They settled on a friends with benefits arrangement, although Natalie was unhappy with being used as she saw it.
